What is it about John Best UCHE- The Social Voice?

It has always been a thing for me to be a voice to people.

One of the ways I am doing that is through using my media skills and profession to project young people who are doing amazingly well in their various spheres.

Another way is Social Advocacy Programmes and Projects.

I know I have influence that culminated from my proof of integrity in dealing with people over time.

What makes me happy and joyed up until now is the gift of Self-Discovery of myself.

I discovered quite early who I was made to be and I did not play down on it for one second.

I discovered my talent was in communication. I went for it!

It started from my Primary School where I take major roles in drama, talk shows, debate, and the likes...I could act very well then (even now).

Then, my Junior Secondary where I was the Pioneer Coordinator of my Press Club under the supervision of Mr. Julius (my teacher) of blessed memory. I would wake early in the morning to ensure that I go to school with recent news reports which I package for presentation during school morning devotion; all thanks to sunnewsonline.com which was my news source then; Discussion programmes and all on Fridays during the School Social Gathering.

I launched a programme then. It was called "The Students' Parliament".

How I came about the name then, I can't tell considering my inexperience at that time.

The programme then seeks to hear from students - their complaints, challenges, whatever it was then the school was doing they didn't like or they liked; more like, a channel of communication between the school, teachers and the students.

After interviewing the students and documenting their thoughts from Monday to Thursday, on Friday, during the Social Gathering, students and teachers as well as the school management were represented on a table of conversation.

The success of that programme was a high point of my being a student at Junior level then.

In grooming for sustainability which is what leadership entails, I engaged other students who I gave roles and functions. Some of them were newscasters, presenters during Fridays' Social Gatherings, and other events.

It was such a fulfilling life lived!

While as a student and doing all what I was doing from the place of Self-Discovery and Passion, I connected so well with fellow students, my teachers, school director and parents of other students that the name - John Best UCHE really rings loud in the hearts and souls of everyone.

I got an award for the most hardworking student in my Junior Secondary. It was humbling for me when I was called out on stage during the End of session Speech and Prize Giving Day where students, teachers, parents, friends and dignitaries gathered in their hundreds and were made to applaud and cheer me. That feel!??

Some of my teachers, fellow students and even my director and proprietor are reading this right now and if in any way they find anything untrue here, I don't think they hesitate to react.

As a junior student then, in my position as the Punctuality Prefect, I had more regard even more than the senior prefect.

Why? I did not take that for granted so, I took up my responsibility to the fullest.

I had good Interpersonal Communication and People-Management Skills then and I still do not fail in those areas even now.

I left my private school for a public school to continue my senior secondary school. The experience then was another mind-blowing one.

I got there and in my second term, I applied for the post of a Social Prefect. Interview conducted and hey, I beat the other applicants.

I became the Social Prefect (Boy) while Chioma Vivian was my Social Prefect (Girl).

I did what a social prefect nor even most of the Senior Perfects never did in that school.

Again, fellow students, my Teachers, Principals were never not happy with my being appointed Social Prefect. They never saw it in that fashion.??

Well, the story of my Leadership and Social Advocacy journey did not start and end there. How about leaving Port Harcourt for Jos, Plateau State where I got my Professional Media Training from the first Television School in West Africa - NTA Television College, Jos?

There, the leadership received more tests with distinctions.

Now, I'm sure you have an idea of some questions you may have wanted to ask about my leadership and social advocacy.

If you've got something to say, please, don't hesitate. Use the comment session.
