One way to learn what most job seekers do is to ask a lot of questions ...
So I ask job seekers questions every day, and it provides a great way to learn what most job seekers do ... and how you can improve on the mistakes that most others make.
For example, job seekers feel that 80% of their resumes are screened out by ATSs (and this is probably a low estimate, with the reality being much higher):
These answers suggest?that most job seekers see getting past or around Applicant Tracking Systems as a big problem, and it's confirmed by job seekers stating that it's their #1 problem.
So, if you're struggling to get your job applications or resume past ATSs, you're not alone.
But it doesn't tell us what is causing this problem for most job seekers ...
To learn more, I ran some additional LinkedIn Poll?questions to learn why:?
This gives us some insight into one reason?why so many resumes are being blocked by ATSs - Not enough resume customization.
And this gives you some insight into something you can control to get your resume through Applicant Tracking Systems more often.

To gain an advantage over your competitors and get through ATSs more frequently, invest significantly more time customizing your resume to fit an individual hiring manager's current needs (especially the needs that are?not in the published job description).
And this additional LinkedIn Poll question gives insight into an additional way to get around Applicant Tracking Systems more often:
A combined 81% of job seekers are applying online or trying to network through LinkedIn. Both of these job search strategies underperform and are unlikely to get your resume through or around ATSs very often.
Even when you network through LinkedIn, most of your responses will come from an HR department or recruiters, whose job it is to load all the resumes they receive into an ATS. You'll have low odds to get through or around resume database screening by sending a resume or applying through people that are responsible for getting resumes into their ATS.
But there are more effective resume and job search strategies that can get your resume and applications through or around ATSs more often.
