What I've Learned This Month (April), Other Ramblings, And Pictures of Wilf!
What!? Its the end of April already? How on Earth did that happen? Well here's my first ever newsletter to help it all sink in a bit. I'll be posting one of these each month to let you know what has excited me recently, what I've learned, what incredible books and other resources I have stumbled across and I'll update you on the love of my life....Wilf the Wirehaired Daxon.
Firstly though...
What's excited me this week - Well as the picture above suggests I have become a proud sponsor of the all conquering Wymondham Ladies Football Team. What a season they had had by the way (look them up). Not only have they dominated their league and gained promotion to the National League where they'll be playing the likes of Norwich and Ipswich next season, but they have made it to both cup finals meaning the treble is on! The set up within the team is so good and my sponsorship will focus specifically on the Development Squad meaning even more opportunities for women across Norfolk to get into football. Wymondham Ladies FC are now just two tiers away from the fab WSL so who knows, one or two of the players in the squad could one day play for the Lionesses #upthetown
What have I learned? - I've always considered myself as a good listener, but I've learned recently that I've got a long way to go yet before mastering it. Like a lot of people, I have a mentor who I meet regularly to talk to about life, business and anything that takes our fancy. Her wisdom and life experience blows me away and I always leave our get togethers with a new energy and a renewed drive to succeed. During a session this month I was blown away by a technique she used to strengthen the connection between us when talking. This seems really simple, but she just remained silent. Even when I stopped talking, she simply sat there in silence. These short pauses of silence gave me an opportunity to instantly reflect on what I had said, something we rarely get to do, as someone else usually starts talking when we stop. This technique leaves a atmospheric pause between interactions which strengthens understanding. This is something I am going to start doing a lot more of myself!

What books/resources have I discovered - Thanks to the fab Cassandra Andrews, I have discovered the book "Who Not How" by Dan Sullivan. The book very cleverly explains how any problem is solvable. Not by asking "how?" but rather "who can help me?". I won't go into too much detail now, but trust me, the book helps you to identify how your biggest goals can be achieved through accelerating teamwork.
And finally.....Wilf!
Followers on here will have noticed a few posts over the last 4 months about this little chap. This is Wilf, my almost 6 month old Wirehaired Dachshund. Wilf is teaching more about my myself than I ever knew! More about that in the coming months
Thanks for taking the time to read. See you next month.
I really enjoy reading this, looking forward to reading ‘who not how’ on order. You should write a book! Or have you?
