What I've Been Up To

What I've Been Up To

A few weeks ago, I decided to start doing something I'd done a number of years ago (and hadn't done for some time): mass-connecting with my network.

I got the idea from (sadly) the number of people that I'd see posting that they were out of work, and they were looking for help (and, shortly thereafter, they'd land their jobs). I finally got the hint!

So, this is the email I sent out to my connections (after learning - the hard way - that Gmail imposes a limit on the number of emails you can send each day). And, for anyone whom I didn't have an email; they'll be getting a Facebook or LinkedIn message, directing them to this post. :)

Hello friends and connections,

?I hope this message finds you well.

In the past, I used to send out periodic updates about my professional endeavors, but it's been a while. I still believe in the power of networking and meaningful connections, which is why I'm reaching out to trusted individuals like yourself.

As a brief overview, I've recently relocated to a new country (Canada) and am eagerly seeking out new and exciting job opportunities, in Canada or the US (as I’m able to work in both countries). I would greatly appreciate any support or guidance you could offer during this transition.

Here are a few ways in which you could lend a hand:

1.???????????? Spread the Word: Your simple share of this message or comment on my LinkedIn posts could greatly expand my network and potentially lead to new opportunities.

2.???????????? Referrals: If you come across a role within your organization that you believe aligns with my skills and experience, I would be honored if you could consider recommending me for the position.

3.???????????? Coffee Chat: I'd love the opportunity to catch up with you, whether it's over a cup of coffee in person or a virtual meet-up. Hearing about what's new in your world is always something I look forward to.

4.???????????? Keep Me in Mind: If you hear of any openings or opportunities that you think would be a good fit for me, I would be grateful if you could keep me in mind and loop me in.

5.???????????? Pass It On: If you happen to know someone who might be able to offer valuable insights or connections, I would greatly appreciate it if you could pass along my information to them.

In terms of my expertise, I specialize in bridging the gap between HR, Operations, Leadership and Marketing through effective internal communications strategies. My track record includes enhancing employee engagement, reducing turnover and boosting productivity through innovative solutions such as social intranets, storytelling and knowledge management tools.

In short, I’m a problem solver and a change agent.

My ideal role is still in the world of internal communications – with a small-to-mid sized company – either on-site, hybrid or remote. However, I’m also open to exploring new possibilities and challenges that come my way.

Despite the whirlwind of changes, I've been keeping busy with various projects, including speaking engagements on internal communications, editorial projects, website development ventures and sports journalism contributions, I also recently earned the prestigious Distinguished Toastmaster Award in Toastmasters (something fewer than one percent of all Toastmasters achieve).

As I navigate this transition, I'm grateful for any support and insights you can offer. Please feel free to reach out via email or schedule a time to chat. I'm genuinely interested in catching up with you and learning more about what's been happening in your life. Networking is a two-way street.?
