What it's like working for VIVO.

Our Built Estate Manager, Kenwyn Hughes, shares his experience on working for VIVO so far and what he's looking forward to in the future.

What led you to working in the Defence industry?

Having spent 10 years working in various engineering roles after 18 years in the Army, I saw the opportunity to come and work as a Built Estate Manager, based at RAF Valley. Being born and bred on Anglesey, a stone’s throw away from the base, I was excited to take up this chance. I originally trained as a vehicle engineer, however, have moved to work on various Infrastructure and estate management projects. This opening working for VIVO in North Wales will help me to grow as a manager and engineer and the transition to working within a Defence Industry once again excites me for the future.

How has it been working for VIVO as a Built Estate Manager?

As a new employee you never know what to expect when starting with a new company. However, I have been impressed so far with everything VIVO have presented and delivered. Being at the forefront of what we do on the Built Estate, I get to speak with the people that we are here to serve. VIVO have made a very positive impact and made my role as Built Estate Manager a little bit easier. I was excited with VIVO’s core values and ‘Built for Change’ strapline because we can use these to assist in our daily routines. They can underpin the way that we perform and deliver every day as if it was Day 1. So far so good and I am excited to see what the future brings in my role at SDA 10.

What are you looking forward to in the future as a VIVO employee?

I am all for change if it improves our working environment and provides the best we are capable of. The changes made so far have been extremely positive and I am looking forward to bedding in new changes and improving what we deliver. I always encourage my team to come up with new ideas and try them out. If they don’t work, then revert back or try something different. That way we continue to learn and progress. Since being in my role, I have made some minor changes at SDA 10 and the team have embraced them. We work as a team and try to be our best in everything we do. Everyday, we will continue to do that.?
