What it's like to work at Medline?

I have been a part of Medline for more than 9 years and have frequently been asked, “In today’s time where professionals are changing jobs and switching companies in a short time for career growth, what has been your motivation to stay with Medline for this long?”

Honestly, the reason I continued with Medline for the past 9 years, in addition to a promising career, is that I am gratified to be associated with a company, which has strong work ethics, robust and steady growth, equal opportunities, and a great work-life balance.

Medline’s senior leadership has led by example by building a virtuous culture within Medline.

At Medline India, we receive equal opportunities as our counterparts in the US and elsewhere in the globe. Our parent company has extended all required support and has always encouraged and empowered us to succeed in our roles.

These are a few of the aspects that differentiate Medline from other companies.

A subsidiary with equal opportunities as the larger global company

From joining as the first team member of Business Support Group (BSG) to now working as Senior Manager of Distribution at Medline India, I have been through thick and thin and enjoyed the exciting journey as the company expanded its business units and grew its workforce to more than 1000 employees in India.

A year after my joining in 2014, I travelled to the Medline head-office in U.S.A for advanced training. A year after my first visit, I was conferred with a new opportunity to backfill my manager in the US, who went on a maternity leave. Through a period of 6 months, I was entrusted with the responsibility of handling some ongoing projects as well as training new team members who had recently joined the team in the US.

Based on my performance at Medline India as well as in the US, I was promoted to Assistant Manager, when I was close to 4 years of my work tenure.

Internal role change – Different avenues of career growth

There comes a stage in our career when we want to explore different opportunities and step up from “making a living” to “making a life”.

On some occasions when a crucial time comes in their career, most people have to leave their current company altogether to pursue their career ambitions. I was facing the same dilemma 6 months after I visited the US office.

At a time when I was exploring different opportunities and roles that I wanted to pursue, Medline’s Distribution division was looking to expand the Distribution business operations in India. I received another great opportunity to work with Medline’s largest division – Medline Distribution, which was the turning point in my career.

It will be close to 4.5 years since the setting up of Distribution operations in India. The team now has grown to 71 competent members, who have equally contributed towards the success of the division.

Equal opportunities at the core of company culture

Diverse ideas, opinions, and experiences are naturally inculcated in Medline’s company culture.

At Medline, our focus is to ensure every individual's growth through training, grooming, and sharing objective feedback, which helps employees move ahead in their careers. Two-way communication & care for our co-workers is an important core value of our company. All this helps us drive higher engagement & productivity each day.

This is one of the reasons why Medline Industries has been able to achieve immense success with the current revenue of $20.2 billion, while achieving our mission of making healthcare run better.

Medline for women

Women have the power to create, nurture, and transform. At Medline, we believe that when nurtured in a secure and supportive environment; women can tap into their full potential to achieve goals, set milestones, and lead the way to success. This has been another major reason why I wished to continue my career journey with Medline. The work environment at Medline has always been secure, encouraging, and empowering for both men and women.

With the active work and impact of the POSH Committee, Medline practices zero tolerance for harassment at the workplace, which has made the organization one of the safest places to work for all employees.

From observing and acknowledging the passion and potential employees bring to the table, to the freedom of owning your tasks, goals, and career paths, my career at Medline has been enriching, encouraging, and empowering.

Well said Devyani N... "Organisational Culture" is a set of accepted presumptions, attitudes, and beliefs that direct how employees behave. It is mostly determined by the organization's "Core Values" and how the leaders uphold them.
