What it’s like when the big PropTech boys start copying you

A few weeks ago, we were planning on offering our Dynamic REveo Showing app as a preferred vendor for COMPASS when we started to sense something was wrong.

On paper everything looked fine.

This recognition from COMPASS (15,000+ Agents) was not just a great early customer win for us, but also great recognition and verification for our product’s timeliness and innovation, when combined with our earlier deal with MoxiWorks (which represents 80 Real Estate PropTech Apps and has sold to over 350,000 Agents world wide via their 260+ Real Estate brokerage clients).

As we were working our operational details and white labeling specifics we find out that COMPASS is preparing their own version, at least, “something similar”.

A few days ago, COMPASS announces Livestream Open House. This was confirmed by their chief executive earlier this week.

This clearly starts competing with a part of the offering that we were about to make available to their agents. Even the wording appeared to be word-for-word what we had used a few years back when we started disrupting the Open Houses with REveo Livestream Open House. Read about it at that time in this Inman article.

As a result, we decided not to pursue the preferred vendor opportunity. It became clear that COMPASS was looking to gain competitive intelligence on us. Asking us for visibility on our differentiated features and so forth (although many are not part of our public offering yet…).

Well, I decided to make it easier on them.

We are in a space that still needs a lot of education in my opinion. Many non-tech-forward brokerages, who don’t have the gigantic financial backing that COMPASS benefits from to create their own tech, are still trying to figure out which virtual Real Estate showing solutions are out there.

COVID-19 has certainly accelerated the need to make Real Estate showing safe in new ways. Yet, the Real Estate industry as a whole has yet to discover custom built Real Estate showing solutions that meet the needs of their clients to close on a Real Estate property. And nothing else.

I hope this article is helpful to those Real Estate power players who look to service their clients in a disruptive way that gets them more closings, faster, while sourcing new client leads in a powerful new way.

I am continuously shocked at how many agents spend tons of Money for a matterport for their listings when it does little-to-nothing to actually sell the property. REveo is the opposite! I love that I can live stream with my clients so they can ask questions and I can also send the entire tour OnDemand for clients to share! Viral marketing bliss! with a geo mapping tool
