A movement that united many Indians under one issue, a dream which many Indians saw together after so many years- a dream of corruption-free India. That movement turned into a political party, many of us liked the idea of forming a party, and some criticized it. Some of the people stuck through the process of being a political force, while traditional politicians were ready to mock a new activist, or rather I would say an anarchist entering into politics,?

Wining 27 seats in the first elections was like history itself, but then the compromise was done when collaborated with the congress. Collaborating with Congress for governance was one of the earliest “smart” political moves.?I am sure Arvind Kejriwal is smart enough to strategically go for re-election. And in the second elections, he smartly projected his work in the first 49 days and ran the campaign on the same issue, and had the landslide victory.?

The first history that Delhi saw, was something that no one was expecting. And the work AAP did was a little different from the traditional politics that India experiences. They started their “politics” with promises which were related to the common man. They talked about electricity, education, water, and health care. And the common man was impressed with the work they did.?They continued to spread their charm and won the second term as well.?

The whole of India was indirectly experiencing the work AAP was doing in Education. And suddenly schools, smart classrooms, hospitals, free electricity, and water became the common words in election rallies and manifestos. Words like religion, caste, and vote bank got replaced by education, health, and other promises. And somewhere people started aligning themselves with these promises. People started talking about schools and hospitals, little did they know they were changing the narrative. And with the same and different agenda, AAP went for Punjab elections. and what we saw in Punjab on the 10th March was remarkable. the 9-year-old “regional” party got a clear-cut win in Punjab. The identity and traditional politics were lost once again by the newbies.?

With Punjab’s win, AAP is spreading its wings. And this win will be going to play in their favour. AAP now has a national capital and one complete state. And India’s freedom fight knows the importance of ruling Delhi and Punjab together. With a full state, having control over law and order, AAP has every chance of performing well and starting their national political career. The work they will do in Punjab will hold immense importance in the upcoming years. It might be the start of a change in Indian Politics.?The work they do will help them to start their groundwork in other states where they hold a good chance and have a ground presence like Gujrat.?They have already started thinking about going for the next Gujrat and Himachal Pradesh elections. And within a week, people who used to ignore AAP and AK a year before, thinking it was just a regional party, have started talking and discussing AAP and AK. Even though BJP projected Punjab’s win as a congress loss, deep down they also know it’s AAP who won the elections. If all goes well, we can see narrative changes in Indian politics. We can see more leaders talking and promising about world-class schools and hospitals and transparent politics.?A true optimist should not hesitate from dreaming about India, where parties will run elections wholly on pure promises, and we citizens will hold them accountable for those promises.?
