What is IPv6
Have you ever heard of IPv6? If not, don't worry - you're not alone. While it may not be a household name, IPv6 is an important technological advancement that has the potential to revolutionize the way we use the internet.
So, what is IPv6 exactly? In simple terms, it's the latest version of the Internet Protocol (IP), which is the system that allows computers to communicate with each other over the internet. The current version of the IP, known as IPv4, has been around since the early days of the internet and has served us well. However, as the internet has grown and evolved over the years, IPv4 has started to show its age.
One of the main problems with IPv4 is that it's running out of addresses. Every device that connects to the internet has a unique IP address, and IPv4 only has a limited number of these addresses available. This means that as more and more devices come online, there's a risk that we'll run out of addresses for them to use.
Enter IPv6. This new version of the IP has a much larger address space, meaning that it can accommodate many more devices than IPv4. In fact, IPv6 has so many addresses available that it's almost impossible to run out - it's estimated that there are enough addresses for every person on the planet to have over 100 billion devices each!
We are excited to announce that over the next several months we will begin configuring our internal network to support IPv6. We are committed to staying at the forefront of technology and are excited to offer this upgrade to our customers. Stay tuned for further updates on when IPv6 will be available.
