What is The Invisible Corner?

What is The Invisible Corner?

In an effort to engage with my clients in a more organic or service driven way, I like to take the time to see what projects are inspiring the teams and what products are turning the most heads. For these are the projects and products that can inevitably be the difference when discussing opportunities with my candidates. Moreover it's why I love what I do, the innovation is always exciting.

Which brings me to my favourite client and all round structural glazing whizzes Cantifix. They have designed a new product that uses an ingenious new glass technology, the invisible UV Bonded corner. UV Bonding allows glass to be seamlessly fixed, creating a striking invisible corner that has no spacer bars and gives an edge to a property. For so long the quest for the thinnest profiles and slimmest borders has pushed the innovation and product design but here we are now with a completely uninterrupted view through this marriage of craftsmanship and skill as the film needs to be cut and applied with a high level of precision to ensure they could bond the mitred glass together

Charlie Sharman, the managing director has given us some greater context: “A UV corner is created by mitring the edges of the glass at 45 degrees and applying an incredibly thin, strong UV-cured adhesive to each side and then sealing them together. The area with which to bond the glass is exceptionally small so the film had to be applied at exactly the right position. It took immense precision.”

I will never fail to be impressed with the capacity in which glass supplies solutions to the problems that drives the innovation of this industry. This is a smart and more importantly aesthetically wonderful achievement, as the views through these products is why we're all here. So when you have a product that so strongly represents the core values of this industry, then you have to say bravo.
