Hi y’all!
We’re shaking things up this week because I haven’t posted in over a month. I thought I could do a master post of ALL the things that have been talked about over the ENTIRE MONTH of July. So buckle up because this is going to be A LONG ONE.
(Sidenote: Let me know if you like these kinds of monthly recaps and I can continue to do them or any feedback.)
1. People are remembering that 9-month cruise
Remember when the internet was super invested in that 9-month cruise people signed up for? If you don’t remember, let me refresh your memory. Last year in December, the Serenade of the Seas left on a 9-month cruise. People all over TikTok were invested in its potential drama, dubbing it THE reality TV show of the year (that was before the recent season of Love Island USA). If you want a full deep dive, I’d recommend reading this article on Vox by Rebecca Jennings . @sollyywolly made sure to remind the entire internet that it is still going on.
2. Alissa Violet decides to stand up for Jason Nash
Some quick lore
You might be reading this and think to yourself: “Who the hell are those people?” Both Alissa Violet and Jason Nash were part of the biggest YouTube creator groups. Alissa was part of Team 10 and Jason Nash was part of the Vlog Squad. Both controversial. Now back when Tana Mongeau (26) at the time 18 was on the rise, Jason Nash, who was 44 at the time, was trying to get with her, even kissed her without her consent. In recent years, Tana has been VERY vocal about the exploitation and sexualization she experienced in the industry. I guess karma is her best friend because as soon as the Vlog Squad ended, Jason Nash was left on the streets, well more so TikTok Live-stream begging people for money because “getting a regular job is so beneath him.” What does Tana do? She revels in his downfall by occasionally shading him. Her last video doing so got over 10m views.
Alissa Violet enters the chat.
You know when people say: “Mind the business that pays you.” Yeah well, I don’t think Alissa knows. She came on Snapchat and decided to stand up for Jason Nash and slut-shame Tana. Because the internet is forever @findkane reposted Alissa’s entire rant . It didn’t go over well AT ALL. The internet quickly rallied behind Tana, with users like @spillsometeawithme1 highlighting why Jason Nash is NOT someone you need to stand up for. There’s been a lot of back and forth since then, with people sharing how much of a mean girl Alissa is in real life. Needless to say, Alissa does not have the internet’s favour right now.
3. Clinton Kane vs Brooke Schofield
I was going to make a recap of the entire Brooke vs. Clinton Kane drama, but I feel like so much has happened that I lost the plot a little. However, Nicole Rafiee made an ENTIRE video on the lore of the Clinton Kane drama. If you are too lazy to watch a 1-hour video, here’s a quick recap.
Some quick lore
Brooke Schofield, the host of the now famous Cancelled Podcast, came out with a multipart series exposing singer Clinton Kane for being a fraud. They dated in 2021. During their relationship, a lot of red flags came out, like his obsessive behaviour and lying about his age, being Australian, and his mother being deceased.
Clinton Kane came out with his own multipart series - that honestly should’ve stayed in the drafts - trying to redeem himself, but it did the complete opposite. People have since then come out to show proof of his lies, but Clinton Kane is holding on to his lies.

4. Olivia Culpo and her wedding drama
What’s a wedding if there’s no drama? Now imagine having drama with THE ENTIRE INTERNET. That’s Olivia’s wedding for you. Olivia got married back in June and had an entire profile done on her wedding revealing the "pick me" that she is. The internet was quick to call her out, especially wedding content creator @gowneyedgirl , who basically called out Olivia on her hypocrisy. Olivia made sure for us to know that she didn’t wear mascara on her big day because she’s different. However, she failed to disclose that she not only had a lash lift but also had a contract with Gucci Beauty where she wasn’t allowed to talk about other makeup brands. Since Gucci Beauty doesn’t carry any mascara, well, Olivia “didn’t wear any.”
5. Brat dance creator doesn’t get credit for her dance
Unless you have been living under a rock, Charli xcx’s new album has been taking over the internet by storm. From people changing their profile pictures to the album cover, using it to promote the recent presidential election in the US, and everyone doing the Apple dance. However, people were a bit upset that the original creator of the Apple dance @kelley.heyer , wasn’t getting properly credited in the dance recreations. Kelley issued a statement telling people that while their heart is in the right place, there is no need to bully people on the internet to get credit.
6. The internet hates Katy Perry’s come-back
Katy Perry has been under a lot of backlash recently regarding her new album. Mainly because she dubbed the album as being a “feminist album,” yet she decided the entire album had to be produced by Dr. Luke, who is a known rapist. Her team advised her against doing so, but she decided not to listen, and it’s biting her in the ass. Her music video for “Woman’s World” got so much backlash she had to come out and explain the music video. Rolling Stone made an article as to why her music video missed the mark . If you don’t have access, @superkeara did a breakdown of the entire article.
7. Major of Paris Swims in the Seine
One thing about the French… they know how to protest. A lot of French people were against the Olympics being hosted in Paris because of the sheer cost of it alongside other things. To show their sentiment around the entire event, they’ve decided to poop (yes, poop) in the Seine so it wouldn’t be swimmable by the Olympic athletes. To “prove” the cleanliness of the river, the Mayor of Paris, alongside others, swam in the river. @zozomccormack documented the entire thing.
8. Jojo Siwa’s Karma becomes the most disliked music video
Jojo Siwa took to the internet to announce she had the most disliked music video in history. On the list were people like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. I personally think she took it like a champ and turned the whole situation into something positive. A win is a win.
9. Woman calls out having her engagement recorded without her consent
@rafiahamir stitched her viral proposal video after user @k.ris.marie10 (now deleted) posted a POV of Rafia’s engagement, captioning it “I’ve never seen a proposal so cringe in my life she never even said yes.” Rafia had previously asked for the video to be taken down since she never consented to be recorded and posted online but was blocked for her request. She decided to take matters into her own hands by simply stitching her video, calling Kris out, and getting her 5 seconds of fame.
10. Lady with the green dress goes VIRAL for her clubbing shoes
According to @raechristine “The girlies are not wearing heels to the club anymore.” Rae Christine took to the internet to “call out” our generation for not putting effort into our footwear anymore. After she revealed the shoes she dubbed as “appropriate footwear” to wear to the club, the entire internet took it and ran with it. Rae has since created a response video and managed to get a partnership with Shop Akira to reveal their latest shoe launch. Talk about turning a viral moment into an opportunity.
