What are Instagram Reels?

So you have heard about Instagram Reels, but you’re thinking “what are Instagram Reels?!”

I hear YOU! We all are taking in new forms of social in our own time.

Let's be real . .

It’s not everyone’s first priority to stay up to date on what’s new on Instagram, but it seems like more people are ready to explore the video side of social media like Reels or Tiktok.

The reason why Instagram Reels are growing in popularity is because businesses are seeing results.

Reels allow you to reach a whole new level of impressions and engagement that other features on Instagram have never seen before. And the consumer is on board with these short and sweet edutaining clips.

So what are they?

Instagram Reels are short videos that you can create, edit, and post in Instagram. You can then add text and add captions to hold the viewers attention. Instagram reels can be published just under your Reels tab or under both your Profile and Reels tab.

Instagram Reels can be between up to 15 seconds long, or up to 30 seconds long. You have the option to choose the length of your Instagram Reel while you are the creating mode.

Currently the trend is the shorter the better, then directing the viewer to see more in your caption. Plus, knowing which sounds are trending can be a huge help to the amount of viewers you get as well.

Here is how to add Reels to Instagram:

1. Go to profile.

2. Tap the “+” sign in top left hand corner.

3. A tab should pop up with multiple feature options.

4. Select “Reels” and follow the prompts to make your first Reel.

Here are some Reel ideas that do NOT involve your face :

• stop motion
• memes with video background
• packing orders
• synced videos/photos with sounds
• getting ready for your work day
• voiceover with work scene
