What about the infinite possibilities beyond what we know now?

?? Jason Bateman. That’s who I underestimated. If you’d asked me in his “Teen Wolf Too” era if he’d be an actor with longevity and variety, I’d have said no.
But here I am. ?? Listening to his voice as a character in Zootopia. After listening to him and his actor friends on their popular podcast Smartless. ??? Oh, and don’t forget Ozark. ?? The man has had quite the career. I’m glad I was wrong about what was in store for him.
??Makes me wonder who else I’ve inadvertently underestimated. ?? And who has done that to me.
And reminds me that merely seeing more for someone than they see for themselves can change their trajectory. ??
I get to do that all the time in coaching—open a new window, door, or hallway in the mind of a client and ask them if they’d like to explore that alternate version of themself and their future. When they take me up on it, it’s magic. ?
I do this because I know our perception of “possible” is shaped by the past. That naturally makes it very, very limited. ?? There are infinite possibilities that stretch waaaaaaaaay beyond what any of us have done up till now. ?? Infinite.
The trick to becoming a master cultivator of possibility is habituating this thought experiment: What if anything was possible (for me, for them, for this situation)? ??Try it. What do you have to lose? ??
P.S. If you want to elevate your impact as a leader and could use the support and accountability of a coach to that end, reach out for a no-obligation coaching consultation.
