WHAT IS ICLOUD AND WHY SHOULD I TRUST IT?

When switching over to an Apple product, one might think, “What is iCloud?”. Well, iCloud securely stores photos, videos, documents, music, apps, and so much more. It keeps them updated across all devices. With iCloud, sharing photos, calendars, locations, passwords and more is easy. iCloud is also useful when you lose your phone, because it can help you find your phone.

Now here is an even bigger question: Can you trust iCloud? Well, sure it is easy to be able to use it to keep certain things up to date and things can automatically be uploaded, and data and passwords can be securely synchronized on all your hardware. iCloud is secure and can be used to back up an iphone completely to avoid data loss. On a Mac, iCloud is a start but does not get everything. For that, Apple includes Time Machine as a part of the OS, which backs up everything to an external disk such as a portable hard drive or Network Attached Storage (NAS).  

Time Machine is the best option for backing up a Mac: it’s included with the operating system and makes it very easy to restore when needed. Time Machine does an incremental backup, which means that it runs hourly, only backing up things that are new or have changed.

On the topic of security, some people have trust issues with messaging.. SMS messages are not encrypted, meaning that the messages are visible to mobile carriers and governments and can be intercepted by hackers. iMessage is that it is encrypted end to end and Apple does not have the ability to decrypt messages. Even still if one doesn’t trust their phones messaging system, the following apps are encrypted and safe to use:Viber, LINE, Telegram, Signal, and so many more. Though WhatsApp is end to end encrypted, WhatsApp is owned by Facebook, which collects a lot of data about anything they can get their hands on.
