What is IBM Application Performance Management?
At Envisage we focus on IBM's APM and Netcool suites of products. We have created a series of videos to help people understand these products better.
In the video I am sharing with you today, Aadil Khan and I explain the basics of IBM's Application Performance Management or APM.
APM is used to analyze and monitor applications and server infrastructure. You can even monitor your users’ experience.
In an IT environment it is essential to be able to determine the root cause of IT issues quickly. A system like APM can improve the stability of your environment and helps you to be proactive in preventing outages as well as identify the root cause.
IBM APM can help you improve your environment by:
- Improving availability of applications by 60%-90% using the integrated analytics
- Reducing the length of outages and slowdowns by more than 50%
- Detecting the root cause of problems by upwards of 90%
In addition, it can be offered either in the cloud as a Software as a Service or on-premise.
Some other features in IBM APM are:
End-user experience management which lets you see how the application is performing from the user’s perspective.
Transaction tracking which lets you see the application’s performance during an actual business transaction.
Diagnostics for root cause which analyses bottlenecks and performance degradations.
Analytics to provide insights and help you manage dynamic trends.
Discovery of application components in system environments.
