What is a?goal?
Merriam Webster defines a goal as
1. The end toward which effort is directed: aim. The goal is high-speed rail travel.
2. a ) An area or object toward which players in various games attempt to advance a ball or puck and usually through or into which it must go to score points
b) The act or action of causing a ball or puck to go through or into such a goal
c) The score resulting from such an act
3. a) The terminal point of a race
b) An area to be reached safely in children’s games
To put it crudely, it is setting a target in life, on-field, or any vertical of life. The goals are like milestones that a person needs to measure overall progress towards a more significant milestone, maybe a new year resolution.
Why set?goals?
Goals define the path or the journey that you wish to take. Setting definable goals is the first step towards the realization of your dreams.
Everyone has wishes and dreams; acting upon those dreams and visions takes time and effort.
Recently I read “Your Goal Guide: A Roadmap for Setting, Planning and Achieving Your Goals by Debra Eckerling.” Furthermore, I learned a lot.
If you do not want growth in your life, the next section is not for?you.
How to set goals?
I have read multiple books, and Robin Sharma has been my go-to for all my problems. However, I explore various kinds of literature based on productivity and self-help. It shows how people use different techniques to elevate the standard of their life and their manifestation methods.
Debra’s approach is an acronym for her name in a way ‘Deb.’ Let me elaborate.
So the book introduces us to the ‘DEB’ approach where,

‘E’ — Explore the opportunities

Determine
The first step of setting a goal is determining which desire to act upon and which dream to chase. We see multiple fantasies live as kids, but which one to pick for the next ten years or at least five years. Is your dream to be a singer, traveler, entrepreneur, or Olympic athlete?
Determine the journey you wish to embark on. Live in your ‘Goaltopia’ as Debra describes the goal. Visualize what you want, what you desire, where you are, what you are doing, how you feel, articulate it, and write it down.
Explore
Once an individual has a clear image of what they want in life, they can move toward exploring the various options and plans.
Let us say if the firm is service-based or product-based for starting up the business. Who are the expected clients, and where will the raw material be sourced.
What tools are required to start if it is about getting into a new hobby? What are the other arts and forms associated with it?
Suppose it is about traveling or being a billionaire, which places to visit, what landmarks to cover, or the various investment options. What instruments can boost the highest profit margins?
Once you are sure of the destination, Planning the details is the next step. The skills that will help you master the art or the courses will help season your selling skills.
Think of it as a road trip that you want to take. You decide where you want to go. Now you are selecting the route and the landmarks you want to cover.
Brainstorming
Brainstorming is a process to solve a problem by rapidly generating various possible solutions.
We then look for better alternatives, approaches, or routes to reach our destination. With our target set, we have decided upon the landmarks to cover. Now we are just finding the best course of action so we reach our destination effortlessly and quickly.
The trip route might change based on your regular interactions and actions when reaching goals. You have to network with a few people or devote time to learning new skills. These things take time, and each one has underlying principles that you need to master. Yet don’t be distracted by these temporary stops and think that you have reached your destination. Its a mission a ten-year mission. It would be best if you fought for it. Don’t be pampered by the comfort each station provides.
While reading this book, there were multiple techniques I found helpful.
1) Keep a journal
2) Have a mission statement
3) Keep your plan private
4) Log your daily journey and its milestones
5) Your map should have deadlines (by xx/xx/xxxx I need to accomplish xxxxx). I have inoculated it in my regime, and I will advocate it to everyone who talks about personal growth to me.)
6) If you can’t figure out a better version of yourself or a mission statement, pick up a song or a movie character that will resonate with the ideas and feelings that you think you must have. But don’t you dare to stop once you have started your journey towards the goal
