What I need to know to be a Digital Marketer In 2019

For the summer of 2019, I chose to enroll in a Digital Marketing class at WWU taught by Professor Mark Staton. As part of this class, I will be posting regularly about what we are learning, the assignments we are given, and the projects we do.

After reading the new E-book published by a local digital marketing agency called Intellitonic, it made it simply clear what skills I need to master, and which programs I need to learn to become a successful digital marketer in 2019. To understand digital marketing, you need to understand two things; Digital technology and marketing. As mentioned in the E-book, "the term, digital marketing analytics covers any sort of tool or service that identifies the ranking and performance of a site, typically providing suggestions for improvements." Programs such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Search Console, and Google My Business are all programs which are essential to understand how to use, in order to master the skill of digital marketing. There are several analytics tools that serve their own unique advantage. For example, SEMRUSH is an analytics dashboard that gives you detailed information on your website ranking compared to others and can also help you identify keywords. Other important tools one must know how to use to be a digital marketer in 2019 is MAJESTIC SEO, SPEED TESTS, and of course, SOCIAL MEDIA. Alongside all these programs, it is important to have a strong technical background and to be comfortable working with computers, seeing that the most money to be made in digital marketing are jobs related to Data and Web analytics, SEO/SEM, and UX (User Experience). I am excited to further develop my knowledge about the digital world we live in today, and I look forward to learning the several programs, skills, tips and trick, and the ins and outs of digital marketing.
