Last weekend one of my best, most consistent clients messaged me and told me she wasn’t available for our class today and we would have to reschedule.?

This was pretty out of character for her, so I asked her if everything was ok. She told me that her boss suddenly contacted her and demanded that she attend a mandatory dinner + drinks with a new potential business partner. She was given no notice, it wasn’t optional, and it would be totally unpaid. This was on a Saturday, and it wasn’t the first time something like this had happened to her.

Situations like this are why I do what I do. I know what it’s like to feel stuck in a job where you aren’t fully appreciated and feel like you’re taken advantage of. It’s terrible.?With each client I work with, my goals are to not just ‘teach English’. I want to help people unlock jobs/careers where they feel fulfilled and valued.

This situation was the last straw for my client. She absolutely deserves better, so now we’re working on improving her resume, cover letter, and interview skills to get her out of that toxic work environment and into one where she’s appreciated.
