I am attending the Sage Summit at London's Excel today and tomorrow and one of the opening keynotes from today was Investor and Entrepreneur Deborah Meaden.
She shared her nuggets of wisdom with us for business growth and attracting investors
1. Ask yourself 'why me, why would anyone want to get involved in your business' 'Why is this investor the right fit for you, why I should they be as excited/ fascinated as you are'
2. You need to demonstrate that you really understand your business and be confident in it. Ensure that you dont crumble under the pressure of questioning and that you know your business inside out.
3. You need to be a calculated risk takers and have the foundations of a basic understanding of the mechanisms of business. Make sure you know what Profit & Loss is, What a balance sheet is, have clarity of vision and the ability to learn.
Deborah Meaden has written a book of common sense rules around business. Her final summarising points:
1.Business is simple, although not easy. Don't over complicate it.
2. Know what is important, as you grow you can forget why your customers loved you in the first place.
I look forward to further business insights over the next 2 days. You can join me on the 6th, registration is free
