What I learned writing about others on LinkedIn

They say that AI is sublimating our biases and I believe that is correct but what about a bias toward human communication?

May seem like a weird opener but think about it, we are so keen on automation that we forgot that there are some things that are best left to a real human touch.

Start With The Basics

Back in the spring, I started a series on influencers on LinkedIn.

They were simply people who corresponded with me on LinkedIn. I wrote about them without their permission and they only saw it once it was published.

The only criteria I had? Be polite or kind in messaging.

There was no system or method to how I went about it. I didn't even know that there was such a thing as a nano-influencer.

I just had a hunch: I bet I'm not the only one on LinkedIn who likes this person.

The Warm and Fuzzies meets Just Good Business Sense

The result of writing this series?

  1. Met great people
  2. Learned a lot about different industries
  3. Saw that there was such a thing as a positive community on LinkedIn and not just a generic group
  4. When the time came where I personally needed resources to fill in the missing pieces in my agency, I had a built in rolodex of vetted and highly qualified people who I could call on to assist me in pursuing clients/contracts
  5. I put everyone with whom I had 1st connections on a group chat. It was wonderful, I never had to establish any rules about respectful communication because the whole reason they were in the group was because they practiced respectful communication. And no one ever pitched their services or offerings in the group! Pretty amazing in a group of 20 driven entrepreneurs and professionals.
  6. Some of the strongest personalities are some of the biggest givers
  7. Inclusion and diversity of all kinds are a natural part of a gathering of great professionals, it happens naturally without any conscious effort
  8. We always support each other's posts if we have a minute for a like or comment
  9. You know you can trust someone when they take the time to give you feedback
  10. Everyone on my list was an Idea Person with a bias toward action.
