Here's the news from the hospital:
Mom is coming home in 2 to 3 weeks!
It's cloudy — 79 degrees here in New York.
Let's talk about what I learned this week.
------------------------------
Did you ever have free time during this week?
Sometimes it's hard to take a break.
Here is what I learned this week:
1. Asking how you can get better is a good thing.
I asked a Houseman at the hotel this past Tuesday how to improve.
He explained to me I'm doing well. All I need is more experience.
It's high praise because he's been around for years.
Other phone operators gave him a hard time.
I'm one of the two according to him who doesn't.
Getting better is good because you are not content with where you are.
Pushing yourself to higher standards changes your mindset.
To stretch yourself is to leave your comfort zone.
Ask how you can get better and take action.
You learn what to do next.
2. Saying "I love you" makes you feel great.
Called Mom when I got a chance.
Spoke to her yesterday about receiving a new teapot.
A new teapot made out of glass and it's lead-free.

Why a new teapot?
Because the old one has chemicals and metals.
The new one is for her health.
I told her: "I love you."
She said she loves me and my younger brothers.
Take the time to tell your family, friends, and pets you love them.
They will remember you.
3. Learn from your mistakes and communicate.
I messed up a call earlier last night and refused to speak to the manager for over an hour.
It stings.
I took ownership and explained what happened.
She told me it's okay.
I did get redemption when the Engineer called.
Placed the Engineer on hold.
This time, I spoke to Clifford at the front desk.
I let him know the Engineer wanted to speak with him.
Got back to the Engineer and transferred the call to Clifford.
The manager said it was perfect communication.
She overheard the whole thing.
And I'm doing well according to her.
The night before, I got high marks on my manager's evaluation of the phone calls.
Learning from your mistakes helps you be wiser tomorrow than today.
Learn well and communicate with a clear mind.
P.S. Which part of the post surprised you?
