What I Learned . . . . . Time is Precious
On Sunday, January 26th, I was on my way to the HAI HeliExpo in Anaheim. As we were waiting around to board the plane, the news broke that Kobe Bryant along with his daughter, the pilot and 6 others had been killed in a helicopter crash not far from where I was heading.
Having grown up with Kobe the basketball player there is certainly a sadness about the loss of a talent, but it was the view of Kobe, his daughter Gigi along with the other parents and children that really tore at my heart. It was a reminder for me to focus on the quality of time I spend with my husband and my children. To think about the lessons and love that I can give them as often as I can. We never know when our time on earth will be done, but what we do with the time we do have is what defines us.
As I went to memorial and saw the tributes to the love and admiration between a parent and a child, the grief for a wife, mother, children, and siblings, many of the "problems" in this world and in my life became inconsequential. Sure they have to be dealt with and in some cases overcome, but remembering the things that truly matter and what will be your legacy long after you are gone is what I am going to be focusing on. Striving to be the best wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, colleague and co-worker I can be.
Life is short, time is precious, and every relationship is an opportunity to leave this world and the people in it knowing that I cared and that they mattered.

5 年Well stated and well done. As my wife and I have gotten older we realize that life is about making memories and moments and not about material pursuits! So as my late father would say - “Today is the first day of the rest of your life - make it matter “
