What I learned as a 'sexpert' at a sexual wellness brand

While creating educational content for VUSH, I’ve learnt so much about the needs of the community and the gaps we need to fill to provide comprehensive education on sexuality and pleasure. If you’ve been following the brand closely, you may have seen my content pop up on our socials and blog under the name ‘Sexpert Steph’ (I really hope that title stays with me for life). I’ve been creating educational content for VUSH for over a year now, and I’m very sad to be moving on. Here’s what I’ve learnt along the way.

? THE COMMUNITY WANTS SEX EDUCATION ?

One of my favourite things about working at VUSH has been addressing community concerns directly (via our wonderful community manager and socials specialist). Whether customers needed guidance on how to use a product, how to have an orgasm, or how to enhance their sex life, I had the opportunity to develop educational content tailored to their needs. At times, I felt like a virtual sex coach! I have loved reading community responses to my content and hearing feedback that it has not only made an impact on their sex life, but also their overall wellbeing.

? PLEASURE IS A HUMAN RIGHT ?

Too often we talk about sexual health without focusing on pleasure. I’ve loved working in a brand that is 100% focused on pleasure. (There is an international declaration on sexual pleasure after all!). The actual mechanics of good sex are never explicitly taught, leaving us to try and figure it out by ourselves or through pornography. I’m so proud to have developed educational content on sexuality and pleasure that doesn’t beat around the bush, and actually gives people tangible tips on how to have more pleasurable sex. Everyone deserves to have the tools to experience pleasure, whether it’s a sex toy or a (sex) life-changing piece of education.

? THERE IS ALWAYS MORE TO LEARN ?

I came into VUSH as the resident ‘sexpert’, but I’ve learnt so much from my co-workers and the community themselves. While I’ve been working at VUSH, innovative products have been developed, studies have been published revealing more about pleasure anatomy, and industry trends have moved at a fast pace. There is constantly new knowledge to develop and share with our community! I am so grateful to have worked in an industry that has given me the opportunity to learn something new everyday.
