What I Learned on my new Series Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars

My new series, Gordon Ramsay Food Stars, involves me investing $250,000 of my own money into one of America’s future facing food entrepreneurs. This was a tough journey, no doubt about it, but it was a fantastic way to see that the spirit of Entrepreneurship is strong in America. Here’s a few things I learned:??

Inspiration is Strong

In the show, I’m putting my potential investments up to the test and that involved traveling around the US. What I found traveling around the country, not just from my contestants concepts, but from local businesses, is that there’s so many inspiring creative businesses being put together from the grassroots. It’s not only so great to see but it gives hope to the entrepreneurial spirit.

Artisan is In

Whether it's sauces, beverages or local markets, it was clear that artisan products are in. It was a fascinating ride to visit markets in Arizona, Seattle and Napa and see what local artisan purveyors were making. Small businesses are most definitely not dead yet !?

I want to Invest in a Powerhouse Independent Business and They’re Out There??

On Food Stars, I’m putting $250,000 of my own money into one business. And when it comes to that brand they need to be a powerhouse. But what does that mean? For me a powerhouse is more than just a product: it’s the person behind it, the marketability of the product and their future facing goals. Obviously I choose one winner, but every entrepreneur on the show had glimmers of a powerhouse business in their concept.?

Entrepreneurism is Not Dead

From a CEO’s perspective, I was able to see that the entrepreneurial spirit in America is still very high. Every challenge, every moment, I was able to see the spirit in how they executed the challenge. From teens to individuals in the 60s, it was wonderful insight into the hunger that exists and that age is no can never stop this spirit.

Gordon Ramsay Food Stars Premieres May 24th at 9/8c on FOX and is available on Hulu the following day.
