What I learned from 28 weeks of video blogging every day at Avalanche.

What I learned from 28 weeks of video blogging every day at Avalanche.

If you aren't already aware, 28 weeks ago we began video blogging (Vlogging) every single day inside the office of Avalanche. This was dubbed 'The Entrepreneur Vlog' and the idea was to depict what really happens every day inside a young startup and gives the viewers a glimpse behind all the glamour that seems to dominate the current entrepreneurial landscape.

It has been hard work, being in front of the camera every day of the week and dealing with the general public's view of us BUT we love it and are addicted to it. Some of the things we have learned are:

  1. Reflection - There is no better way to reflect on your progress than being able to look back 28 weeks and see how your team has grown/developed as well as understanding how your testing and measuring has worked.
  2. Brand Equity - Whilst we subtly hoped people would like the Vlog, we didn't expect to have fans from around the world commenting and asking us questions. It is crazy to think that we are helping people with their entrepreneurial journey and the value this brings to our brand is amazing.
  3. Employee Engagement - Since we make sure each member of the team are on camera, the engagement has massively increased and being able to see the amount of people increasingly seeing our videos is motivating for them.

I would recommend to anyone that they do something like this, it has been incredibly helpful for us and will be for you also.

Since September 2016 we have had over 260,000 minutes of our videos viewed... bonkers...
