What I Learned from the 20 Day Challenge of Posting on LinkedIn

What I Learned from the 20 Day Challenge of Posting on LinkedIn

“I should start posting on LinkedIn every single day, sometimes multiple times a day.” I’ve said it many times. You, too? I finally took the plunge.

Here’s what I learned from posting my own content for 20 consecutive days:

·Putting your own content “out there” is daunting. But it gets easier with practice.

·Creating and posting daily content is challenging and time consuming. It has to be scheduled.

·Ideas are fleeting. Write them down. Keep a running list.?

·?Write posts ahead of time. (I intend to. Still, a really good idea.)

Here’s what happened:

·Reconnection with my existing network. People I hadn’t spoken to in months – sometimes ages – contacted me because they saw my content in their LinkedIn feeds. This led to some great conversations and in some cases discussion of future projects and collaborations.

·Network expansion. Some of my posts generated responses and comments from new connections.?Several of those interactions led to introductory calls and valuable discussions.

·Increased visibility. And momentum.?I was asked to speak on a panel and talk about the professional value of posting on LinkedIn. That event led to discussion of a future coaching opportunity, well it's a small value- a work colleague.

·Enhanced comfort level with sharing my content, ideas and experience on a public B2B platform. Also, the more I posted, the more comfortable I became commenting on –not just liking--others’ posts and resulted in even more new connections.

What’s next? Keeping the momentum going.

Creating and posting relevant content 20 days in a row was challenging. Also, exhilarating. It was a considerable time commitment on top of ongoing projects. I’m glad I did it.

Posting daily built the habit. Now the practice shifts to a more manageable 2-to-3 times a week.

Writing 20 posts in 20 days fine-tuned my thinking on go-to areas of expertise and generated a substantial list of additional topics to cover on LinkedIn, to speak on and to address in more detail as client resources.?

I hope the topics I posted resonated with other like-minded individuals as well as the new network connections. I appreciate feedback as to what you find inevitable in the content that you post on LinkedIn each and every day.

Thanks for the post. I will be doing this as someone who is self-taught and struggling to be noticed for positions that I am qualified for.

So great how posting 20 straight days led to network reconnection AND expansion. I agree that planning ahead/timing posts makes all the difference.
