What I Have Gained From Collaboration

What I Have Gained From Collaboration

As Shakespeare would say, let me count the ways…

Epiphany

First and foremost, I have stepped into my power for who I truly am. It’s no exaggeration to acknowledge that it is the collaborative community at Collaboration Global who have shown me that I am powerful beyond measure, when I truly connect to my inner genius, my natural talent, to serve my purpose. It might sound rather grand, but I have never been happier than I am when helping others to fulfil their destiny and collaboration helps me to do that.

Through them I discovered the context of who I am and why I am here.

Freedom

I have gained friendship, knowledge, skills and discovered the superpower that connects us all – LOVE.

That is not to say I didn’t have all of those things before, but it is through collaboration I can see more clearly the value of trust, respect, authenticity and the power of vulnerability. Each collaboration brought me closer to understanding how to work with people and identify how we can help each other, by being genuine and offering a spirit of generosity to the project. Leaving our ego in a box we were able to experiment, get creative, fail occasionally and create magic that none of us could have predicted. I had freedom to be ME!

Knowing my value

In business I discovered collaborations that made me bigger than I was alone. I was able to reach more people, take on a wider variety of projects and work in my genius – do the bits I loved. With others I honed my talent, took on new adventures and stretched myself way out of my comfort zone. It was scary, it took courage and I grew in strength and acknowledged my value. I loved the camaraderie of being part of a team and realised that those I was with wanted me to succeed as much as I wanted them to thrive too. A win/win/win for all. A win for me, a win for them and a win for the planet.

 Being part of something

When a collaboration is focused on doing good for all people and the planet it gives a sense of being part of something bigger, something worthwhile that feeds the soul. Knowing that being part of the team will make an important impact for those less fortunate not only gives a sense of pride but also made me feel worthwhile. Being part of something bigger than just me, created a picture where anything was possible. We stretched ourselves, came out of those comfort zones and reached the next level of what it means to be human.

Massive rewards

Yes, there were financial rewards, but these dimmed in comparison to the personal growth and satisfaction I gained from each collaboration. If I were to do it just for the financial reward alone, I would have been missing out on learning so much about being my best me, reaching my next level of awareness and potential. I was making a difference and it felt so good.

Being connected

Understanding that through true collaboration I not only connect to others more deeply, but also discover things about myself through deeper connection to me. Connecting to humanity, seeing how our actions have repercussions and the intrinsic way we are all connected across the globe means we have a responsibility to each other, with a massive potential to make a global impact for good. Everyone has this responsibility to reach out to another and connect, to show love, compassion and offer help where needed, especially in today’s world.

Do YOU need to collaborate?

Not at all, it isn’t necessary, you can have a perfectly wonderful life flying solo. Although, in your quieter moments you may always wonder what you might have been capable of with some collaborative support. Perhaps, just perhaps, you could play your part in a collaboration to make a difference to our world.

It starts with a spark, an idea, a feeling, a dream. Share it with another, someone who sees your worth – and see what can be created.

Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world indeed it is the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead

Being part of something is the biggest thing for me. It's not just collaboration - I've been in a networking group for around 10 year where I was a founder member, and we've met every month for all of that time, never once expecting things like referrals or opportunities to work with the others (though those things happened), but just enjoying being part of something with other nice people. We're all social animals, and doing things with others is great. #collaboration hashtag #community hashtag #choice hashtag #CollaborationGlobal
