What I got out of the 10xGrowthCon2
I just got out of 3 intense days in Las Vegas at the 10XGrowthCon2. This event was organised by sales guru Grant Cardone and his team and it's probably the biggest Sales conference in the world right now.
(if you don't know who Grant Cardone is, check out his website here)
If you didn't want to spend from 1000$ to 15000$ for the ticket (+ airplane and hotel) to go there but you still want to know how it was, here is a condensed (and free) version of it.
TenX, not TedX
Don't ask me if I learnt a super smart insight about the latest scientific advance in microbiology. Even though I actually did, don't be confused : this was a TenX conference - not a TedX. The main purpose of this event was to help you succeed at a massive level in your business and your life, not to share the brightest insights.
A rock concert for business
This is NOT your regular Chamber of Commerce conference where old people sit down to have boring conversations in a formal setting.
Instead, imagine 9000 energetic and hungry business leaders packed in a huge Arena in Mandalay Bay, where all the biggest rock bands have played. The public went from all over the world to Las Vegas. After waiting for this conference for months, they were pumped - and so was I.
Before entering the Arena there were huge photobooths with giant "10X" letters. And a DJ playing loud hip-hop music. Wow !
Once inside there were 5 giant screens playing classic quotes from Grant Cardone (AKA "Uncle G") himself : "dominate, don't compete", "success is my duty"... Then a loud countdown. The adrenaline was rushing through my veins.
Grant litterally arrived from the ceiling in the middle of fireworks like he was Rammstein. Boom.
A lot of speakers regularly asked us to participate and nobody complained. Whenever they asked us to do so we stood up, raised our hands, screamed, even did some aerobics... And pulled out our credit cards. Hey what did you expect ? It's a sales conference !
Then between each speaker imagine a music you would hear in a WWE fight, played through a sound system so loud the room was trembling. And a host announcing the speaker as if he was screaming "let's get ready to ruuuuuumble !"
We had a concert from Flo Rida at the end of the first day. He was on fire. Usually I am not a huge fan but he was awesome.
We also had an artist painting live during the lunch breaks, Matteo Charles. Not to mention the performance of Roddy Chong, the former violinist of Céline Dion and Shania Twain, who played his instrument like AC-DC's Angus Young would play the guitar.
The speeches
Here is a fraction of all the aha moments I had during the conference :
- Ed Mylett : customers buy your products because they want to be part of something bigger. Business is a cult and the best business leaders are evangelists. People join your company because they want to be part of your mission. Former Pepsi CEO John Sculley joined Apple even though Steve Jobs was a geek in his 20's, because he wanted to change the world.
- Naveen Jaim : Have unreasonable goals (aka "moonshots") and people will join your cause. When you're an expert in your field, you're useless and must go to another industry to bring a new perspective on it. Naveen himself is trying to make illness an option.
- Andy Frisella : define your core values, learn to communicate about them, live to your own standards, and accept responsability when you fail to live your values. The rest will follow : customers and good hires.
- Daymond John : during your first hour of the day, you should be all-in on yourself. Daymond did 50 calls during the first 2 hours of his day... for 5 years. Write down your obituary every year to see if you are living the life you want to live.
- Tai Lopez : there are 25 cognitive biases that you can use to sell more. Because of the relatability bias, you should show your face on your website and tell your story in a relatable way. Because of the authority bias, you should include numbers and any authority data in your website.
- Hank Norman : when storytelling, you must tie your own individual pain to the customer pain. That requires to open yourself as vulnerable.
- Russell Bronson : don't try everything by yourself when trying to build and audience and online funnels. Look at your most successful competitors and model them. There is a reason they do what they do !
- Elena Cardone : have big dreams for you and for you couple. When you dream big enough, you overcome the little disputes.
A Sales masterclass. On steroids.
Grant Cardone teaches how to get money and shows you how it's done. The conference was a real example of what you can do to build multiple flows of income. Here is a few examples of what Grant sold in the conference (all the prices are approximations based on what I remember. Go to their website if you want the exact price) :
- 10X hats and a package including all his branded clothes (395 $)
- a networking party for 80$ and a charity party for 250$ up to 1000$
- a poker tournament with 1000$ buy-in
- tickets to the next 10X growth con (even though nobody does yet know where or when it is going to be, or who the speakers will be).
- access to his Cardone University as well as other online programs and certifications.
- a franchise opportunity to become a Grant Cardone certified coach / reseller at 25000 $
- tickets to his 3day sales bootcamp in Miami
- joining his "ambassador team" to get coached online during 3 months
- access to the 4th day of the conference
- access to become an investor for Cardone Capital
- sponsorship of the event
- advertising packages to get promoted on his youtube and online shows
- consulting services from his new marketing agency run by Robert Sislow
- a fast pass to avoid waiting in line (40 $ )
- the video recording of the conference
- donations to his charity. Many people in the crowd gave 10000 $ right away.
And that's only Grant's products !!! At least half of the speakers sold their own stuff : online training, live sessions, software, personal coaching as well as physical products.
I know what some of you may think : a conference where the speakers sell their stuff... is this a scam ?
Please don't be cynical about all that. You didn't have to buy anything if you didn't want to. And let's get real : most people I know love their products... but when it comes to selling them, they're uncomfortable. And when it comes to being sold, they get mad, angry, suspicious... Does it make any sense ?
Russell Brunson : how one guy sold 3m$ in 1h
Among the speakers, the best at sales is undoubtedly ClickFunnels' CEO, Russell Brunson. He sold 3m$ of his product in only 1h presentation. Can you believe that ?
And he came back the day after for an upsell.
How much did it cost you NOT to be here
Russell Brunson example brings me to this point. If you are reading this and you want to make more money, please understand that your absence to this conference is probably costing you a lot. Indeed if you were not there, you missed so many efficient ways to make money it's crazy. I know it sounds harsh but I really mean that.
The 10X crowd
The speakers were super interesting and awesome and insipiring. But so was the crowd. It was the most condensed congregation of people with guts and hope you could ever see. I could go on and on about the personal stories I heard, but in a nutshell it was really inspiring and touching to connect with such great people.
How I will implement what I have learned
"Your actions speak so loudly, I can not hear what you are saying." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
I could probably spend hours talking about how great the conference was. I'd rather execute on the field instead because that's where all the success and happiness is. I'm aware that to get what I want, I'll have to push, show up, fail miserably, work took much, get rejected by customers, get criticized by my peers, get betrayed by those I trust, wake up early when I am exhausted, learn from the best, get laughed at by my opponents, be told I am never going to make it, hated on social media, face legal procedures... over and over and over. Times 10. Now let's roll.
