What I gave away...

In this busy season of giving thanks, it is easy to get caught up in the preparations for family and friends and forget to take time to reflect on what we are truly grateful for.
To help you embrace what this season is really about, I'd like to share a quote attributed to Ethel Percy Andrus:
“What I spent is gone; what I kept, I lost; but what I gave away will be mine forever.”
To sum it up, when we truly give ourselves to others, that is life’s highest achievement. Ethel was a lifelong educator, like my mother, Dottie Warren, and an advocate for the elderly, founding the AARP in 1958.
I have witnessed firsthand the sacrifices required by countless teachers and educators who give so much of themselves. Their hours of giving create a ripple effect, transforming lives for generations. Knowing they play a vital role in that transformation is a gift that lasts forever.
Taking a moment to stop and count our blessings is the heart of Thanksgiving. So, I want to thank all of you who subscribe to this newsletter and stay connected with me. As the old Irish Proverb says: "When I count my blessings I count you twice."
Thankful for you,
Gay Gaddis
