Learning about digital marketing for the first time is daunting. With so many different areas to focus on, I thought it would be impossible to learn about each concept. But under the guidance of Mark Staton, PhD I not only learned those concepts, but I learned how to implement those concepts into a successful digital marketing strategy.
Take a look at some of the things I’ve learned this past quarter. And more importantly, take a look at how I can help you and your business grow to reach its potential. I am dedicated to refining my craft as a digital marketer and am excited to continue to grow.
My Digital Marketing Skills:

Did you know that Google’s Universal Analytics is about to be replaced? Yep, in June 2023 GA4 will now be the new main analytical tool from Google. If you don’t know how GA4 works or how to transition, I can help you! I learned how to set up GA4 to track conversions, use it to do A/B testing, and create meaningful reports using the data it collects. I also have the GA4 certification to prove my skills.
A/B testing involves testing slightly altered variables against each other to maximize conversions. You can use this in all forms of digital marketing. From websites to emails to paid ads, A/B testing is the catalyst for driving conversion rate optimization and helping your business reach its potential.
SEO:
75% of people don’t scroll past the first page of Google. Your business NEEDS to be there. Using tactics such as keyword optimization, creating relevant and quality content with inbound marketing, understanding Google’s E.A.T algorithm, and link building are all areas of SEO your business needs to focus on.
PPC:
Pay-per-click ads are still an important part of your business's online presence. You can read more about a step-by-step guide in my blog, but I’ll give you the most important ones. Creating ads with a specific audience, message, and conversion goal is crucial. Otherwise, your money will disappear fast. A/B testing is also a great way to refine and further optimize your PPC performance.

Besides the obvious goal of brand reach and engagement, organic social media has many other benefits. Social media allows real-time direct customer service. People now tweet a company and expect a quick, personalized response. You don’t want to leave your customer on read! Social listening is a great way to deepen your understanding of what consumers really feel about your brand. I learned programs to categorize what people say about your brand, even if they don’t tell you directly.
Paid social media should be used to attract new customers, not engage those already in the funnel. Utilizing your organic channels to find the best content to promote will save a lot of money and generate better results. Additionally, paid social will get quicker results than organic social if you are willing to spend the money for it.
The Lumascape is very confusing, but when you break it down into its parts it isn’t that bad. Programmatic advertising accounted for 84% of all digital ad spending in 2022, and it’s only going to rise. AdTech focuses on taking ads that companies want to show to a specific target audience and matching them up with publishers who are looking to sell ad space on their site. Knowing the difference between the layers of the AdTech industry will help you make better advertising decisions and stay ahead of current trends.
Email marketing is still thriving to this day. Using emailing software such as Mailchimp is a great way to collect, organize, and report data that your emails collect. They allow you to see the open percentage and conversion rate of different emails and compare them. Using A/B testing like this is perfect for optimizing your email conversion rates. Landing pages also play a huge role. Creating a very basic landing page will help reduce bounce rates and drive conversions. It is all about conversions after all.
Coding is hard, but it is invaluable to a good digital marketer. Have you ever sent a request for a minor change to your design team, only to not hear back for 2 weeks? Yeah, me too. Knowing how to directly customize web pages and emails without the design team will save a ton of time since you can do it yourself! Currently, I am proficient in SQL and am continuing my HTML development. I hope to add more languages to my arsenal soon!
On top of these, I also have accumulated multiple certifications to prove my skills. Here they are below:
These are all hard skills that I am able to contribute to you and your business. I am confident in my ability to utilize these skills to optimize the way your business handles digital marketing. I am obsessed with conversions and will do everything I can to further my knowledge on the subject. I will help your business thrive, expand, and reach the potential that you know it can reach. I will help your brand, be GRAND.
