What I can do for You as Your Digital Marketer
When looking back at registration for classes for the winter quarter at Western Washington University, I was at a standstill about what marketing elective I wanted to learn. I ultimately decided to go with the course called Digital Marketing. The main factor of why I chose this specific elective is I realized that digital marketing isn’t going to be going anywhere anytime soon, and I’d rather learn about it sooner rather than later. Now going into the class I knew I was going to learn a lot because I didn’t know all that much about the topic, and boy was I right. Reading about different forms of digital marketing and writing multiple blog posts each week really took a different stance for learning, and it really made me care about what I was learning since I’m eventually going to go into this field.?
Breaking down the quarter week by week, we started off the quarter by talking about Web Analytics and AB Testing, and CRO. This was a great way to start off the quarter because it showed what the future would entail about the other topics. I really did enjoy learning about AB testing and CRO, and it really make me analyze every website from now on and examine how they design their website to get the most amount of conversions possible. Next, there was Content Marketing and SEO and Link Building. After that, we learned about PPC and were given the made-up prompt of a struggling MBA program in the pacific northwest and how should we personally address it using the new concept of PPC. This post really made the class think on the creative side of things and we had to put ourselves in the same position as the director of the MBA program. This blog post was also the blog post that received the most amount of impressions over the course. In week 4, the course covered the topics of social media with Paid and Organic social media. This was personally my favorite week of the class because social media is and is going to be continually one of the heavy hitters of marketing. Now when I scroll on social media or look at something to buy online. I see all of these different types of advertisements and I pick out which category they go into.

Moving onto the second half of the quarter, started off with the topic of programmatic advertising and ad tech. In this specific blog, we took a deeper dive into what programmatic advertising does for website publishers and how affects them with the number of advertisements on their page and where to specifically put them. Following that, in the next week of the quarter, we talked about email marketing and landing pages, and coding. I didn't really believe that email was still one of the more effective ways of retaining customers, but the more that I looked into the concepts of it, it was pretty clear why so many companies still use this form of marketing. The last two blogs that we have written in the quarter pertained to artificial intelligence and digital activism. These last two topics were very flexible in what we wanted to talk about during class and I personally found a lot of interest in the topic of artificial intelligence. The famous professor of the class, Mark Staton stated that "We are at the very tip of the iceberg for artificial intelligence, and there is so much that lies ahead of us in the future."
Once again, I am very grateful and appreciative of this course that I elected to register for. This class also known as wwudigimark is right at the top of classes where I learned the most in such a short period of time, and am looking forward to using this information that I learned in my future career path.
