To do lists can stress us out because there’s so much we want to accomplish and always more to do and never enough time to do it all. We are always told more more more. But there simply is not enough time in the day to do everything on our lists. Realize that you’re not going to be able to finish at all, so we must focus on what aligns the most with our values and goals. Unfortunately there will have to be trade-offs no matter what but it helps to view that idea as a normal part of life.

How To Prioritize Effectively. — Carl Pullein

If you are not clear on what you want, where you want to go, and what your goals are then it will be difficult to prioritize because you will switch to whatever the newest or most urgent thing is. What is truly important? Then think about what are you truly employed to do? You are not employed to respond fast to chats and emails. Make sure you are blocking time and devoting time to the core activities that are where you really bring value to your company. If you don’t have it on your calendar it’s not a priority.?

Chronic worries or anxious people will really relate to this one. Humans have a programming to focus on what could go wrong because being afraid of those possibilities and avoiding them is what kept our ancestors alive. But in today’s so much of what we worry about is just unnecessary suffering. That chronic self imposed stress can really take a toll on you. Allison writes on her journey of switching to what could go right rather than only what could go wrong.
