What is HR's Role in Digital Transformation?

What is the relevance?
Digital transformation is the integration and acceptance of new technology, in all areas of a business, enabling a more innovative and productive workforce.
Digital transformation is a people-centric process, which is why Human Resource department plays such an essential part.
I think the way that we teach digital is wrong.
We focus too much on technology, with the focus on the how, not the why.
What's going on with digital?
What are the trends we have to listen to?
But what I have found, that it's never about the technology.
The problems that they have, the issues around digital transformation, have nothing to do with technology.
They actually have everything to do with people!
And that's why Human Resource and digital coming together, is so important.
Human Resource professionals, need to be a part of the digital transformation!
Because this is hard work.
We're asking people to change the way that they work, the mindsets to be thinking about things in a different way, and more importantly, the way that relationships are formed inside an organisation, are fundamentally changing because of digital.
No one is in a better position to understand that than Human Resource personnels.
In fact, I think it's an imperative that Human Resource personnels, be involved in the whole digital transformation of an organisation.
Where is your business at in the Digital Transformation Journey?
When we're talking about digital transformation, what actually is digital transformation?
"Well, I define it as a way to create new value for customers and employees, by really tapping into what the digital economy can create for those people."
So when you're thinking about digital transformation, it really is a journey and where you are on, that is a really good place to begin.
The way that we think about it, is that there are six stages, to your digital transformation journey :
Now one thing to realise, this sixth stage is not something, that even the most digital companies, have accomplished.
They're still striving towards that. And that's because all the newest technologies keep coming into the space, and constantly changing the way, that we work.
So we're always going to be striving to adopt these new technologies, into the way that we work.
So now matter where you are in your journey, that is the place where you are beginning.
Don't worry that you're not at the very last stage, or how you're going to get to the next stage.
Really think about where you are.
What are the things that you're doing so right right now? Keep those things going.
And what are the next small things that you can take along this journey, to become more digital?
