What will the HR Organization of the Future Look Like?

What will the HR Organization of the Future Look Like?

"The only thing that is constant is change.” Heraclitus of Ephesus

?Over the last several years, nearly every HR professional I’ve spoken with at every leading organization has been working on transformation projects.?Digital transformation, changes to the HR and business operating models, technology transformation, and more have redefined the way HR is organized, operates, and delivers products to the organization.?

In 2020, we partnered with IBM on a research project to capture the evolution of Human Resources from HR 1.0 to HR 3.0, an HR function for the digital era – transparent, agile, data-driven, and centered on a deeply personalized employee experience.

Two years later, the pace of transformation has only increased for business and HR, and also for the world in which we operate.?As this happens, we are looking ahead to what comes beyond HR 3.0 to better understand the strategies, methods, and capabilities needed in the HR organization of the future.?

In HR 3.0, organizations were called to leverage new technologies in new ways to drive increased business results.?In this ever-changing world, organizations are operating in an environment in which the rules have been re-written and employees and consumers engage with each other and with organizations in fundamentally different ways.

Join The Josh Bersin Company at Irresistible 2022, The Global Conference for HR Leaders and Their Teams, May 23-25, on the USC campus, where I am privileged to lead a track in which we’ll dive into this issue.?I have a fantastic group of HR professionals joining me to share their experiences to date and perspectives on where HR is going.?The track will include a series of sessions digging into the topic from different angles, including:

  • The Future of HR is Human-Centered?In this session, we’ll explore the deep impact of the pandemic, societal shifts, and constant transformation to require organizations to refocus their HR organizations on their very real impact to the humans they employ and the humans they affect as a business.?Ray Narine, People Business Partner, People & Capabilities, Mastercard, will share her experiences in this session.
  • HR Capabilities to Support the Organization of the Future? This interactive workshop will ask participants to consider the shifting landscape of HR capabilities.?How do we need to evolve as professionals to operate in this new environment??And how do we build these skills and capabilities for our teams?
  • HR 4.0: Where do We Go from Here??I’m really excited for this panel discussion where I will be joined by a team of insightful senior HR professionals to discuss their experiences and predictions for where our field is going and how we will need to adapt as organizations and individuals to keep up.?This session will feature Lisa Evans, Director, Talent Development at Conagra Brands, Nuno Gon?alves, Global Head of Strategic Capability Building at Mars; Oliver Herrmann, Tribe Lead, New Ways of Working at Deutsche Telekom; and Nick Piazza, Global Head of Talent at Emerson.
