Elon Musk is one of the most recognisable faces of today! As the world's richest guy, he has always been on front page news with his photos appearing almost daily in some news feed!

Which brings to the next common question that I hear from people when they know what I do....

WHAT IS A TRANSPLANT ?

Simply put, a transplant is the shifting of something from one location to the next. The easiest analogy is using a potted plant or a tree. When one plant has outgrown its pot and we need to change it to another pot, that is a transplant (no pun intended). When a tree needs to be shifted to another location, that is a transplant.

The similar principle applies to human hair. It is common for men to lose hair over the front and top of their head. Whilst the sides and back continue growing well into old age. So with science and development, we have discovered it is possible to shift the hair follicles (roots) of good hair from the back and replant it into the balding areas!

Thus....HAIR TRANSPLANT.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TRANSPLANT AND IMPLANT ?

The easiest difference is:

TRANSPLANT is when we shift a natural tissue (hair, organs) from one location to another.

IMPLANT is when we put in an artificial entity into the body (breast implant, nose implant, yes there is also hair implants)

So hair transplant again is when we use your own hair from the back and transplant it into the balding areas. These hairs will over time GROW and LENGTHEN and you basically have a second chance to get the pleasure of looking after your hair all over again.

On the other hand, hair implants (artificial hair) is when a synthetic hair like material is inserted into the scalp. These have the advantage of immediate result, but they are not real hair thus it will not grow.

WHY BOTHER WITH A HAIR TRANSPLANT ?

Actually not every balding person needs one (professional honesty)

I personally believe some men do look better bald, and have the confidence to carry it well, thus I would even discourage them form a hair transplant especially if they have a "sexy bald head"

However some men, like myself, do not have a good head shape to grow bald into (I know, because I shaved myself once just to see how I look bald). And some of us would like to have a second chance to have hair again. Thus a transplant would be the ideal solution if they qualify for one
