What have we turned God in-to?

I often see a lot of status updates with people's acquisitions. A new car here, a new job there, a new weave or the latest iPhone and most of these will most time have a tag line, "Praise God" or "God is good" or some kind of line that gives credit to God for that acquisition or rather what is titled "Blessing." I often wonder at times whether the same folk would do the same if they got demoted from their jobs, lost the car and got a third hand car or got something that is lower in "class" than what they expected. Would the sentiment be the same, "Thank God for my demotion?" "God is good, He did this or that for me" which may not necessarily cut the societal grade.

What has God become or rather, what have we turned God into? It seems we have turned God into a "Blesser;" sometimes I think we think God chills in Heaven and thinks, "With what can I bless my child today?" Its as if all that God is worried about is just blessing us. Has God become a father christmas, going around secretly reading our prayers from the north pole of heaving and sliding down our chimneys to come and bless us? Do we think if we could dissect the heart of God we would find Him just wondering what the next blessing should be for His child? I think not. But that's just me, perhaps that's why I don't have many things, perhaps I don't go out to go to seek His blessings.

So, next time something unexpectedly negative happens to you, remember to thank God, next time you lose your job or you're downgraded, remember to praise God. Next time you change cars and you can't afford to buy one a range higher, thank God for it. If it is that we believe God is in control of everything. That means He is in control even through the experiences that go against our will.

Anyway don't mind me, maybe it is this kind of attitude that stands between me and my C63 AMG blessing. Oh how I wish I could have the thoughts to write what I need to write after this ranting.
