Latest News and Updates:?Siemens Gamesa unveils proposal for New York nacelle facility
Siemens Gamesa announced its intention to build a offshore nacelle manufacturing facility in New York state, subject to the company’s wind turbines being selected by the New York authorities in their third offshore wind solicitation.
The planned facility will be located at the Port of Coeymans. Siemens Gamesa claims it would create up to approximately 420 direct jobs, support a rise in indirect jobs, and represent an investment of around $500 million in the region.

Last foundations leave Port of Nigg destined for Seagreen wind farm
Seagreen?has entered the final phases of work after the remaining eight three-legged foundation towers were loaded onto barges at Global Energy Group’s Port of Nigg in the Highlands of Scotland.
Global Port Services, part of Global Energy Group, fulfilled the storage, marshalling and logistics contracts for the 114, 95m-tall foundation towers on the South Quay at the Port of Nigg, with Seaway 7 transporting the jackets on barges from the port to site located 27km off the Angus coast. Latest News:?Amazon funds offshore wind seaweed farm project
Amazon is funding the world’s first commercial-scale seaweed farm located between offshore wind turbines.
By locating the farm in previously empty space between turbines, the project aims to expand seaweed cultivation in the otherwise heavily used North Sea. According to Amazon, if seaweed farming were to expand to occupy the entire space occupied by wind farms, expected to be approximately 1 million hectares by 2040, it could reduce millions of tonnes of CO2?annually.

International energy companies EnBw and Equinor have announced their interest in developing offshore wind together, particularly in Germany.
Jens ?kland, Senior Vice President for Business Development Renewables in Equinor, said:?“Equinor has a long energy history in Germany and views the upcoming offshore wind opportunities with great interest. We are excited about teaming up with EnBW. Together we combine excellent capability in delivering renewables projects specifically in Germany with international offshore experience, all needed to provide sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy."

Sif takes Final Investment Decision to construct monopile manufacturing plant
Sif Holding N.V. (sif) has made its €328 million Final Investment Decision (FID) to construct the world’s largest monopile foundation manufacturing plant in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Construction is expected to start in April 2023.
The upgraded manufacturing plant is expected increase the total combined capacity of Sif to 500 kilotons a year and upgrade Sif’s capabilities to manufacture the equivalent of 200 XXXL, 11 meter diameter, 2,500 tons reference monopile foundations a year.
bp and Deep Wind Offshore join forces for 6 GW South Korea portfolio...
bp and Deep Wind Offshore have formed a joint venture to develop offshore wind opportunities in South Korea. As part of their agreement, bp has acquired a 55% stake in Deep Wind Offshore’s early-stage offshore wind portfolio, which includes four projects across the Korean peninsula with a potential generating capacity of up to 6 GW.
The permitting process for the four projects is already underway having installed wind measurement devices during 2021 and 2022. bp and Deep Wind Offshore will now look to install additional wind measurement systems and secure electricity business licenses in the coming period. Read more...
