What has been changed since the pandemic?
I was having a casual chat with a friend who is a Group Manager at one of the India’s popular MNC on, What has been changed since the pandemic?
The mental health?
Mental health went for a toss due to many reasons: personal loss, reduced physical movement, increased isolation from people, pressure from work & family situations. Sometimes, I feel a bit of urgency every time when the clock ticks closer to a scheduled meeting. Everyone has been put under stress including the Governments as well as their people. People as well as companies are realising the needs and taking necessary steps to handle the situation. Mental health became an important topic similar to physical health.?
The salaries
The compensation landscape of people in tech is changing due to the fact that people working from different regions are producing same outputs remotely. The mindset of people who wants to go abroad to make money is slowly vanishing. Talents can stay here and the country should be ready to meet their needs. All credit goes to the entrepreneurs here. But this brings additional loads like, it is increasingly becoming difficult to attract the right talent due to the heavy demand on top tech talents. There are recent TechTwitter conversations on outsourcing the work to other countries due to the change in the job market.
The productivity
Me and my friend had completely different opinions on this topic. On one side, funded startups are able to handle the situation well due to the reason that there are not too many processes. On the other hand, bigger service industry MNCs face problems to handle people on scale through remote interfaces. There is a definite gap in terms of productivity but the companies are gaining due to other cost benefit factors on being remote. While the funded companies face issue on hiring talents, service industry is still facing issues to fix productivity.

The generation gap
The apps you use on your phone can easily determine your generation and how far you are away from whats going on currently. The generation gap is coming down very faster. People from Gen X, Y Z are having huge differences than ever. People from newer generations are aware of many things which their previous generations faced difficulties to understand.
At this moment, it is really necessary to have a mentor who has double/triple the years of your experience as well as who is half of your age.
The personal development gap
There is a huge gap on people's social skills. It especially affects the people who is just entering into the industry. The gap between personal hours and work hours are overlapping. Weekends are the time to upskill yourself. There is a need to upgrade yourself continuously. Keep a reminder on all the Saturday mornings to do something differently: Go on hike, Talk to someone new, Build a hobby, Side project etc.,
The technology
The tech space is evolving faster than ever. The pandemic has an impact on almost all the industries on various levels. Legacy businesses are pushed for a huge upgrade on digitisation. Multiple industries are being revamped forever from now on: Education, Events, Health, Travel. The pandemic proved that people can produce greater results by working remotely. The last decade brought people closer through Internet. The upcoming decade will mobilise people(EV, Robotics, Space tech) as well as improve the existing standards(Decentralisation, alternative energy, AI, AR/VR).?
