What happens when your mission is over!
Both St John itself and its worker's union seem confident that philanthropic fundraising for the ambulance service will soon be redundant because government is poised to pick up the tab. I do hope, for their sake, that this comes about. And very soon. Having invested heavily in the past to raise major gifts and bequests towards the ambulance service, the future of their fundraising programmes will need to be repurposed. With my interest in bequests, I wonder what will happen to bequests and legacies that cannot be fulfilled? These may continue to crop up for years into the future. Is there tagged money already invested in an endowment fund? Will every estate lawyer be notified so that they can advise their bequest clients accordingly. Hmmmm.
