What Happens When Your Medical Device Meets Its Doppelg?nger?

Counterfeit products exist across industries and medical device industry is no exception.

I was once on a field trip in a non-metro city in India meeting a new customer, and his team informed that they have used our products in the past some of which are non-operational. I had a look and the resemblance was amazing! It looked almost similar but had a very flimsy cord and the dimensions were off. I took pictures, went back to HQ and discovered that it was a counterfeit.

So, what did we do as a team:

1)???? Extent of Impact: Conducted a comprehensive market analysis to understand the extent of the counterfeit problem across markets/customers/accounts that have been infiltrated by the counterfeits

2)???? Customer education: Launched a series of targeted campaigns to

a.????? Reinforce the value and quality of the product. Highlighted the safety, reliability, and proven efficacy of the product

b.????? Educate the customers on potential threats of using a counterfeit product

3)???? Feedback Mechanism for Reporting Fakes: Established a system for customers and partners to easily report counterfeit products, providing a channel for direct communication and swift action

4)???? Brand protection and Legal/IP team: Roped in the brand protection and IP team to take necessary legal actions
