What happens when you get the best people in the rights seats

A two-minute read looking at what we can learn as estate agents from one of the most glamourous and dangerous sports in the world.
Lewis Hamilton raced to glory again at the weekend with another victory at the British Grand Prix.
Love him or loathe him, there’s no denying the man is exceptional at what he does.
Formula One is a sport I feel we can learn a lot from as businesspeople.
There’s the emphasis on attention to detail.
The discipline required to stay in top condition mentally and physically.
The importance of constantly innovating.
And, of course, the make-or-break scenario of having an excellent support team.
But for me, the big thing it highlights is what’s possible when you get the best people in the right seats – be that inside or outside the car.
The Mercedes F1 team is much more than Hamilton and his colleague Valtteri Bottas.
The pair have been picked for their courage, natural talent, dedication, intelligence and supreme skill behind a steering wheel.
Some of these attributes crossover into the world of exceptional estate agents and agencies.

In my experience, the best agents are naturally good with people, are dedicated to learning, have intelligence and are highly skilled across several aspects of their work.
And when you have that kind of person in the driving seat, the chances of success are raised significantly.
But when you add an excellent support teams like Mercedes (and the other leading F1 teams have), that’s when the podium positions start happening.
At EweMove, we’ve always been focused on providing leading levels of support to our franchisees.
Whether that’s through giving them access to the best technology, using innovative marketing techniques or ensuring they have all the tools to drive home the best level of service for their clients – our goal is clear. Get the best people in the driving seat, add our support and expertise, and we raise the chances of being a winner considerably.
One thing that success requires, be that in F1 or estate agency, is consistent hard work.
Hamilton could have the best car, an elite support network and everything else, but it would all flounder if he didn’t put in the hard effort, week in week out, keeping himself in top physical and mental condition.
In a business where it’s all about speed, he doesn’t cut corners in preparation and mindset.
And neither do great agents. We’ve seen people fail in the past because even though they had great ability, they didn’t back it up with the right work ethic.
That’s why I’m always confident that when we get the best drivers (franchisees) working with our team, we’ll combine effectively to put them in pole position.
Which business lessons have you learned from the world of sport?

3 年Great read! We have more in common with F1 than we think!

3 年The best example was Michael. The greatest ever and he not only galvanised his team but the tyre manufacturer to work as a proper team. If you are an F1 fan what is your take on the latest incident... In my view refuling should be returned and overtaking easy to achieve with no thought of going to electric. People still buy hardback books and have vinyl turntables.. Lets embrace the retro. If it were James Hunt he would take it on the chin and then take out Hamilton next race..
