What happens when we cross a boundary?
Sue Heatherington @ The Waterside

What happens when we cross a boundary?

A shift occurs when we cross a threshold.

It’s both external and internal, though not always immediately apparent.

Because our surroundings change, and so do we.

And when boundaries are protected to define who belongs where – we also create a new story about who we are.

So this is not a space for those who want things to remain the same.

But it’s a glorious place for those who want to rewrite how things can be.

Pause. See differently. Re-story ??

I am also interested in how we approach a threshold. To listen to the 'threshold guardians' rather than ignoring them and crossing in ignorance. Not to yield, but to understand that we are not coming back... In ignorance, we might exchange one story for another, without making the shift that life is not a story. (For example)

Boundaries remind me of the possibilities of liminal space, if we can be patient enough once we’ve crossed the boundary…not always an easy task. Beautiful words and photograph Sue Heatherington

There’s a good reason for this. We need two ears to listen well.
