"What Happens When We Cease or Do not Pray and What can Happen,” by Andrew J. Schatkin
My dear friends and thinkers and Christians and non-Christians alike and all persons of all thoughts and views and opinions, tonight I will speak of what may happen and can happen when we cease to pray and do not pray. Jesus commanded us all to pray; he gave us a model prayer to follow and he himself frequently is seen and portrayed as praying and in the last moments of his life before his agonizing death on the cross in the garden when he prays to his father in heaven. Jesus wants and bids us as do all the persons of the holy trinity to pray. He wants us to pray because in prayer we become one in love with him. He wants us to communicate with him because he wants a relationship of love with him and with the holy trinity and all the angels and archangels of heaven. In prayer, we have and develop a relationship of love based on love and friendship.
If we do not pray what does this mean and what can happen? We can lose that relationship. Prayer is the vehicle of our relationship and the vehicle of the expression of our love to god as our creator and redeemer. Once we cease to pray, we cease to communicate and when with anyone or any being or even animal we end and cease our relationship. It is the end for both beings. Prayer brings us to god and our mutual love and without prayer our relationship with god ceases and then it must be that love ceases. There is no love and no relationship of any kind without communication which allows love to come into being and grow. Prayer brings us to love and a relationship with god and without prayer the relationship ceases, and in some sense without the connection to god and his love, we cease to be and come to an end.
