What happens when Airlines go to HEL? ?
Not much. In fact, it generally works out pretty well. Rain, shine, or snow.
HEL is the IATA code for Helsinki International Airport, serving the capital and largest city of Finland.
A sophisticated nation of just over 5 million people in the far north of Europe. Helsinki airport has arrivals from short haul Europe and long haul destinations, such as Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Shanghai.
Flights arrive early or later than planned as they do. HEL does quite well.
And in winter, HEL freezes over.
About the time Santa begins his business trip around the globe. HEL is the gateway for the prosperous and welcoming country of Finland.
It is the gateway. And does pretty well as an entry point for Finland and the Arctic Circle. And a great transit airport.
Recently,?#Helsinki?#Airport?was named by?#Skytrax?Awards as best Airport in?#NorthernEurope.
In an interview with International Airport Review,?Nora Immonen, VP at?Finavia?and Director for Commercial services business unit at Helsinki Airport is quoted as saying, “our ultimate vision is for Helsinki Airport to be a fantastic business card for Finland, for people to take happy memories of Finland with them when they leave. That would be the biggest achievement of all for us.”?https://lnkd.in/gx3z8ZdQ
From Business Insider, the writer of an article from July 2023 commented, “The airport was quiet and there was no queue for passport control. I was the only traveler going through the gates and had my pick of five border control officials.”?https://lnkd.in/g3_t2bkB
Disclaimer: EAC have not visited or worked for Helsinki Airport. However, one day it would be great to travel to Lapland to see Santa though! :)

Takeaways?
·??????? A country of 5 million people can have a well-functioning international airport as the welcome gateway for travelers, even if HEL freezes over at Christmas time every year.
·??????? If airlines arrive ON-TIME, can the airport cope? So, it is the airport’s job to coordinate the efficient and smooth operations, isn't it?
HEL yeah!
