What happens next...

So the CDC has changed the recommendations on masks... a large part of the population remains unvaccinated, social media is more confrontational than ever and people cannot agree on what they see with their own eyes. In real estate interest rates remain incredibly low, inventory does as well and client frustration grows.

So what happens next?

I have heard people saying "things will now go back to normal". What "NORMAL" are they talking about? Is it rational to think that things will go back to how they were before COVID? I hate to be the one to break it to you but there will be a new normal.

Companies learned that a large part of their staff can work from home and a lot of people like working from home... do we really expect work from home to just go away?

We had riots across the country and an armed storming of the Capitol. People have been assaulted over politics and the country seems more divided then ever before. Large groups of people are saying the storming of the Capitol looked like any other tourist day and that the looting and burning of buildings was ok. Do we ever get back from all of this?

Social media has become anti-social and filled with lies presented as facts on all sides. People don't converse, they threaten and insult each other from their safe spot in front of their computer. Are we suddenly going to start to respect each others opinions and be nice to each other?

Lots of businesses are gone for good... entire families wiped out due to COVID shutdowns. For those of us in sales we learned to work through ZOOM meetings and have forsaken face to face presentations... will they come back or will virtual stay a large part of our world.

None of us know what will happen next... but I think it is safe to say that things will be different and the new "Normal" will not look like the pre-covid normal.

We have adapted to lots of new tools and ways of doing business and I suspect we will have to adapt again to even more. We will be faced with the current political hatred for years or decades to come. But we will keep going.

What happens next is up to us... how we react, what we do and how we treat others. We can accept change and embrace new technology... or we can be left behind. The choice is up to us.
