The week before What, what sort of things are going on?
What are you thinking?
What do you need to be doing at that point?
A few things that you should be doing that maybe we missed a little bit.
I forgot to re-direct my mail straight away.
They can't do anything for five days, it takes five days to kick in.
Speak to royal mail.
You can do it for three months for about £45 , but get that done, at least the week before tell the internet and sky, for example who we are with - two weeks notice to get your internet connected.
Make sure you give them enough time.
I suppose you don't always know.
Certainly, in the current market, you don't always have a two week lead time.
We had a week between exchange and completion.
I found on the day of exchange or the night I've exchange to speak to sky, Sky TV came around the day after we moved in, which was great.
We've got TV, which is really important, but we don't have internet yet.
That is an issue.
I suppose, that's something that somebody working from home really needs to consider.
If you need a smooth transition you need to be able to have meetings the day after.
Three days later, you're working again.
You do need to have that in consideration.
How did you get on with the removals process?
We use the local removal firm which I would highly recommend doing use a local removal firm.
But talk to them a bit more, explain what you're expecting of them.
And ask what they're expecting of you.
I don't think we got enough instruction before the move.
We had a packing service the day before which again was great.
Would you recommend that?
Yeah, 100%.
They packed half our house and actually took it away in stored it overnight.
You have more space in the house, which is great.
Make sure Boxes are labeled that you've put everything in the room that it needs to go into the new house.
If it comes out of your kitchen is going to go into your new kitchen.
If came out the garage, it's going to go into your new garage, try to make it as simple as you can and get it written down.
Anything valuable, small things Put them somewhere safe.
Probably take them in your own car.
We did put a lot of our valuable stuff in bags andtook them in the car, but I'm still missing a pair of sunglasses.
They don't like going in your loft, so make sure they stick their head up there and see what you've got.
Our guys didn't realise how much stuff we had in our loft.
That morning when it was all downstairs, they had a bit of a panic.
Make sure they've looked into that and seen it.
Did they do it in one big van? No, they did three, three vans to move it all.
Which again was fine.
It worked much better for the neighbors.
Because we didn't have one massive truck in the road.
If you've got a trampoline, a kids' trampoline, talk to them about it now decide if they do or don't want to take it down.
They will do everything in their power, not to put it back together.
Be careful of that and anything big.
We've got a football goal that was also a big item to deal with.
Just make them aware of what you've got.

Use your common sense to help them out a little.
In the quotation process when they came to see you, was that done virtually or did they did do a physical visit?? For us they did which was lucky, but I don't think they were there long enough.
I don't think they gave us enough advice on what to do and what their expectations were of us.
Certainly, they didn't look in the loft.
Didn't talk about the trampoline.
Didn't talk about other things.
Didn't look in the garage.
And what about boxes, how did that work boxes and packing?
Did you have to set up any boxes yourself?
No.
But I would say they came the day before to pack up half the house, but the second day they didn't bring any boxes and we've moved a lot of stuff out our loft and we had a few other bits to do so again, make sure you've got enough boxes they've given you enough, really show them what you've got and what needs to be moved.
That's the sort of? lead up and the preparation around removals.
On the day, the physical morningre you saying no to kids and animals?
Absolutely.
Find a place for your pets to go wewere lucky that we've got family locally, so the dog went there.
Get kids to school, make sure you've got their school uniforms, pack lunches, anything else they need somewhere that's safe so that you can take them to school.
They're super excited because they are moving house so that they're really excited, but they'll be anxious as well.
Make their day as smooth and safe as you can, but just make sure you know where all their stuff is.
When did yours complete physically?
So I was physically completed about half 11 in the morning, which was really nice.
So it's quite an early one.
Yeah, absolutely. How big was the chain of people?
Like how many people...
Four people was in our chain.
And then we didn't actually get into our house till about half past three, right.
Because of the removal firm acting on our onward purchase, they were slow, right.
And I just fear that the vendors that we purchased off again, weren't advised well enough.
I don't think the removal companies have prepped people enough.
My theory is, removal companies in our chain were the ones that let us down slightly.
If anyone's watching this, I think it would be a good idea to help them help you really in the process.
I don't think were advised well enough.
What time were you packed out in the van and into your new house?
Well, so we were packed up and gone off our house about one o'clock.
They did a good job there.
And then, yeah, we got our keys about half three but to be fair the guys didn't leave till about half seven.
Again, one of the main things was putting the trampoline back together that took two of them an hour.
Things like that do take their time.
How have you got on with your utility switching and stuff like that?
Council tax was easy.
Utilities make sure you've got your meter readings from both ends.
Just do a little list.
Really think about the people you need to talk to.
As I said, get royal mail a bit earlier so that then you should start getting your letters and bills to remind you what you do and don't need to do.
The beauty now, most things are done online.
So actually if you can get your internet working quicker than I did, you can do it all online.
So it’s quite easy, but you just need to switch your brain on and sit down for a good half a morning to get that done.
I hope that helps.?
