What Happens To The 80,000 Tons Of Debris From The Twin Towers?

Hello Readers, in this article, we will discuss what happened to the debris after the demolition of the Twin tower.

It fell to the ground in 12 seconds and turned into rubble. Its story does not end there.

India witnessed its largest demolition yet. A sea of dust surrounded the area as the mangled iron was razed to the ground.

After a long legal battle, the?demolition?was followed by an?order?from the Supreme Court.?Multiple building regulations and fire safety norms were violated by the towers.

For years, the towering Twin Towers nearly 100m high, which was taller than the Qutub Minar in the city, stood proudly in the Emerald Court compound. It has left behind?80.000?tonnes of debris that the authorities will have to remove.

How big is the ocean of debris?

The Apex and Ceyane towers, which had 32 and 29 storeys, were unoccupied and turned into 35,000 cubic meters of rubble. This is approximately 80,000 tonnes.?All brickwork and walls were removed before the blast. Only the concrete exterior remained.

There were 915 flats total in the towers. Supertech was able to?makeRs1,200 crore, if all of them were sold.

What do you do with the leftovers?

According to the?Edifice's debris management plan?around 50,000 tonnes have been absorbed into the basements of the former towers. The remaining debris would be disposed off in 90 days.?Some of the debris will be recycled and reused.

According to media?reports?the demolition cost Rs20 Crore, with a quarter being borne by Supertech builders.?The demolition would not only require a large investment but also have a negative impact on the environment.

What's next?

Out of the 80,000 tonnes left behind by the Twin Towers' construction waste, only 30,000 will be taken away and recycled.?The remaining 50,000 tons will be used for the foundation of the?garden.

But it will be four months before Emerald court residents can see green pastures instead of giant grey rubble.
