What happened to 90-min yoga classes?

In the past 5 years, most studios seem only to offer 60m or (maybe 75m) sessions. (Including ours!) So, what happened to the old-school, super-sweaty, 90-minute class??
It’s not your imagination - there is no question that 90-minute yoga classes seem to be less common these days! Here are a few possible reasons for this shift:
Today's lifestyles are jam-packed, making it difficult for individuals to make time for a 90-minute yoga class. A 60-minute session is more manageable for those with busy schedules, and certain studios even provide a 45-minute option.?
Online yoga is becoming more popular. This has led to classes of different lengths being available on digital platforms. This allows people to practice at their own speed and schedule.
Live-streamed classes reduce travel time. People find it hard to stay focused for over an hour at home due to distractions, but they can practice undisturbed for an hour.
Studio Costs and Scheduling: Longer classes cost more for studios and teachers. Studios can offer shorter classes and fit more sessions into their daily schedule. This reduced the demand for longer in-person classes.
However, 90-minute classes still exist! And one exists at Cleveland Yoga this coming Saturday at 9:30am. Be sure to follow us regularly since we plan to offer Special Event 90-minutes classes throughout the upcoming months!?
Ah, a 90! That extra time allows for a more gradual warm-up, a deeper exploration of advanced poses, and a more profound sense of relaxation. Don't let the idea of 90-min scare you. The triumph and healing is real!?
Join me for a 9:30am yoga class this Saturday! Get warm, get loose, be challenged. As a result, experience new centeredness and peace! The class will also be live-streamed.

1 个月I think it went to the wayside because 90 minute class isn’t just a 90 minute class. It’s half an hour drive or leaving in rush-hour so sometimes a 90 minute class can be 2+ hours. This can be very very stressful if you don’t have the time.

1 个月I love your article Tami Schneider. I recently had the opportunity to revisit Yogabarn, Ubud - Bali. What a pleasure to attend 90m practices. I especially enjoyed this teacher - Greg Kaps. Please see the link below. The extract summarise my experience perfectly. Shorter sessions just does not allow for this kind of nuances. "Don't be surprised if you find yourself in a "cirque du soliel" pose one minute, then busting over in ridiculous group laughter or a blissful a singalong the next!" https://www.sacredheart.yoga/about-greg.html
