What happened in 2021?! How to set personal goals you can actually achieve & what is a performance coach anyways?

Hey,
If you're a business owner or business leader looking for tips, insights and tools to help you with your fitness, mindset, and your own development then you're in the right place.
Although, gotta state the bleeding obvious, half of you are probably sat their intrigued, maybe slightly confused by the title; thinking - The CEO Method (TM) what is that and what the f*ck (sorry I do swear a bit) does a performance coach do anyway?
Well the CEO Method (TM) stands for; Clarity, Energy and Optimisation - a unique process I developed over the past few years to help my clients get astounding results in 12 weeks that last for over 12 years+.
I actually recorded a 2 minute video on it a little while back on what a performance coach does, so if you're unsure, pause here for a minute and watch this short vid.
So, with this being the first of my newsletters, I was sat their scratching my arse thinking, what do people actually want to know?
Maybe self indulgent, I hope not, but thought I'd start with a bit about me, just so we get to know each other a little bit more.
So I'm Alex, we've established I work as a performance coach.
Last year I became a father for the first time. Here's a picture of my son Hector, just after he popped out of the sun roof.
It wasn't the easiest birth and we had to stay in NICU (intensive care to those of you state side) for a week afterwards. I'm amazed at how strong both Hector and my wife were. Both are ok now, but for a first time dad, it really tests the resolve and coping mechanisms somewhat. I honestly have massive respect for the staff that helped us through this tough time or for any parent that has to go through this.
My wife Victoria owns a number of small businesses, I guess you could call her an entrepreneur, but she'd probably be sick in her mouth a little bit if you used that term...
Aside from looking after Hector full time, she runs a storage management business and a family run B&B. I met her at my school decades ago, she'd always fancied me (kinda joking) and years later, a year or so after Uni we finally got together. However, not wanting a girlfriend at the time (having just returned home from travelling) and especially not wanting a girlfriend in London (they were expensive and I was broke) I had to rethink my initial strategy...almost 10 years later, we're very happily married and I'm convincing her that 2 kids could/should/maybe be on the cards...
So that we keep it brief, I'll call out 5 more facts about me and leave it there:
So last year, with a new house, new car, new addition to the family and moving full time into a career of coaching and consultancy it's safe to say that there's been a lot of change.
Until May 2021, I'd worked in large corporate firms, most recently heading up a remote global digital product team across EMEA and APAC responsible for just shy of £2bn in annual turnover. But for me, I was still selling widgets.
Whilst corporate allowed me to cut my teeth and taught me valuable skills and experience, it's not how I wanted to serve society and live my life according to my highest values.
I love to coach, to teach, to mentor, to learn and to help others reach their fullest potential - raising their standards and helping them transform. It's why after just over 3 years of building up my business on the side, I finally had enough security to take a leap of faith into doing Performance Coaching full time.
So enough about me, what about you?
What are you working on this year?
What challenges are you facing in to?
I'm always keen to chat, so if you want to pick up the blower or slide into my DMs, please do.
For any of you who have spent months and months setting your business goals, but your personal ones are at best written on a piece of paper stuck at the back of your desk draw (at worst, you never got round to doing them) let me offer you some thoughts.

I actually recorded another video where I talk about goal setting in detail, so if you're interested and can bookmark it for when you've got 20 mins spare, then head on over.
If you don't, then let me summarise the key takeaways for you:
Step 1: Reflect on last year
Step 2: Define the destination & seek clarity on how to get there
Step 3: Break down the milestones
Step 4: Action plan & adjustment
Now I tend to use this system to help my clients transform and most of my clients (not all) have a physical component to their transformations.
I tend to define performance as 3 areas, Health & Fitness, Mindset & Motivation and then Personal Development. When they all move in the right direction, your performance in any given area improves.
So last month, this client [let's call him Bob] finished up with me, losing 16lbs in 8 weeks without any sort of "exercise" plan or needing to step foot in a gym. He also radically shifted his mindset so that he can consistently hold himself to a higher standard at work.
Now, when you have a system in place that's worked for 103 guys, you're able to make slightly inflated guarantees like:
"More confidence, more energy & at least 14 lbs lighter in 90 days or less or I'll coach you for FREE until you are."
Yes sure, it's about weight loss, if you don't look and feel how you want to, then it has to have that component. Most guys actually lose between 16-30lbs on my programmes.
But for business leaders, who can't afford to spend hours at the gym, who's key focus is their work and their career and who just want to find a sustainable way to balance the competing areas of their life, it's also about regaining any lost self confidence and having massive amounts more energy to get more stuff done or stuff done faster and finally sorting their sh*t out for good.
Here my client Tom talks about getting in the best shape he'd been in for 20 years, both physically and mentally:
So, I hope this first issue has been insightful for you and that you have a few clear takeaways, whether it's learning more about performance coaching, how you can successfully set and achieve personal goals, or just that my sons a little toe rag.
Please let me know your thoughts in the comments and anything you'd like me to cover in subsequent updates?
To your success,
Alex
