It is said that over 50% of people do not know what their life purpose is. It could be close to 80%. It is difficult to find a proper stat on that topic but various studies around life purpose seem to point out to that range. The holiday season is the best time to reflect upon this topic.
?? ?????????? ???? ???? ????????, I spent one month in India and Thailand in either ashrams or holy places to do ???????????????? ?????????????????????? and to try to answer the question: ?????? ???? ?? ?
The ?“sadanas” we had during those stays included: deprivation of sleep, siting for hours on the floor with legs crossed, digging deep into our past to understand our traumas, and behaviors,? sharing deep personal wounds with hundreds of people, and listening to hundreds of people's stories, attending energy meditations that would leave us in sweat, going for long journeys in an unbearable heat, not talking for hours to allow our inner listening, or doing night long meditations without sleeping, and more…!
That gruelling regimen prepared me to face life hardship in amazing ways, helped me to know myself, to live in much more awareness and most importantly to ???????????????????? ????????????!
It was not all about hardship, there was bliss too. The bliss to discover “myself”, the bliss of a divine connection to the creator.
I remember asking the question about my WHY to a spiritual leader in one of those trips.
He told me that my life purpose was to be a ????????????.
A healer? Really? ?Why did I spend a big part of my life as a senior sales exec and then a recruiter?
My early career choices were dictated by my love of travelling, my wish to make good money doing something intellectually rewarding, and to be face-to-face with people. That last bit was crucial. I felt alive when talking to people, trying to understand their problems, their wants and their needs.
There is a big part in me that has always wanted to help people to feel better, to live better. So he wasn’t far from the truth. It's just that it took me a while to realise my life purpose. I love to see people moving from a situation of difficulty to a situation of ease and happiness.
That can apply to physical health, mental health, emotional health.
Is my career as a coach/mentor aligned to that life purpose? Of course it is!
I thrive and get a surge of adrenaline when the people I help are happier, find direction and ease in learning or changing what they need to, in their professional (or personal) life or when they look for a new role or new career. Each interaction with a person is a rich experience for me. Each time they leave the coaching more confident, clearer about what they want to do, happier, I feel happy.
Now when I work, it doesn't feel like work.
I love when they tell me that even their entourage feel better because of the actions they took or a new mindset they adopted during the sessions… the magic of the positive snowball effect….
???????? ???? ???????? ??????? Have you found it? Have you ever thought of asking yourself the question?
To help you finding your WHY, ?? ???????????????????? ?? ?????????????? that I would like to share here with you:
?
? ?????????? ??????????: ask your best friend ?????? ?????? ???? ???????? ??????????????? Don’t take their cliché answers about friendship, dig deeper with them by asking “???????? ???? ???? ???????? ?????? ???????????? ???????? ?????????? ?????”… and you will find that they will end up answering about the way you make them feel… and you will get goosebumps….. here is your WHY!
? ?????????? ?????????? has another way to help people find their purpose:
Think of a time in your professional life when you were the happiest doing a certain thing and you could do it over and over again.
Then think of a particular moment in your childhood that you loved the most. Where was it? who were you with? What were you feeling?
Then he goes through a ?????????????? ??????????????????????. He pays attention to your emotional response (coughing, voice weakening, sweating, eyes lighting up, smiling).
This is where your purpose resides…
? ???????? ???????? has a more logical approach to the life purpose: he encourages people to do an ?????????????????????? ???? ?????? ?????????????????? ?????????????????? by reading as many books as possible and to record what truly resonates with you. He believes that this is where your life purpose resides.
? At ?????????????? ???????????????? ????????????, they have a methodology for their alumni:
领英推荐
Write down 25 accomplishments of your life. Then choose the 7 top ones that you believe were the most significant.
Write a story around each accomplishment and pick up the ???????????? ???????????????? in each story. It could be that in 4 stories, you have 4 keywords that are common. The set of those common keywords you find determines your WHY.?
? ???????? ???????? had another definition of our WHY or life purpose.
It is the notion of ?????????????????? ????????-?????????????????? into our own lives.
What do we sacrifice? And for what? For who?
When suffering (resulting from a sacrifice) becomes meaningful, the suffering is not lived that hard. Think of a mother who sacrifices her life for her child. A fireman/woman who is prepared to sacrifice his/her own life for saving people. A nurse who sacrifices her emotional health to support patients.
He contrasts this to a forced sacrifice that is felt as tyrannical and oppressive.
?? Another question to ask yourself is: what would I love to do day after day, even if I was failing? Something I would do with a sense of “time is non existent.”
?????? ?????? ?????????????????? ???????????? ???? ?? ???????? ?????????????? ????: ???????? ???? ?????? ???????????? ?????? ???????? ???? ????????????’?? ??????????? ???? ???? ?????? ???????? ?????????? ??????. It could be as simple as being happy and fulfilled makes the life of those around you happier.
The main reason why most people are unhappy in their professional life is because their work is not aligned with their life purpose.
?????????????? ???????? ???????? ?????????????? ?????? ???????????? ?????? ?????????? ?????????????? ???? ???????? ???? ???? ?????? ???????? ?????????????? ???????????????? you can make in your life. Work will turn into pleasure. You will radiate inspiration and good feelings around you.
At the beginning of a career, most of us want good money, recognition, a good house, a nice car, a great partner, nice holidays… but after a while you discover that it is not enough.
There is no such thing as the perfect time to ask yourself what is my WHY?
???? ???? ??????! Whatever age you have. Whatever your situation.
And if you can’t do it alone, reach out to me to have a life changing session.
?? DM me WHY and we will start the conversation.
Until next time…
Warm regards,
Catherine Parson

3 个月The experiences you talk about at the beginning Catherine Parson, says to me, you have to face "hardship" to find the real you and your purpose. Whilst not having experienced the "sadanas", I can relate to the principle. Your guide to helping you find your true purpose is insightful, a few years back I read an excellent book on this, and an exercise that resonated with me was to select words from a list that intuitively 'jumped' out at you. Great article, a good read, than you.
